2 men dead after shooting in Stockton, police say

Officers found both men dead and a woman hurt after responding for a shooting around noon on South El Dorado Street, the Stockton Police Department said.

STOCKTON, Calif. — Two men are dead after a shooting Sunday in Stockton, authorities said.

Officers found both men dead and a woman hurt after a shooting around noon on the 2500 block of South El Dorado Street, according to the Stockton Police Department. The woman’s injury was reportedly not life-threatening.

The shooting investigation centers on a jewelry store inside the Stockton Flea Market building, according to an ABC10 reporter at the scene, while police said they can only release the block number due to possible victim confidentiality.

One man, who didn’t share his name, said he had not heard from relatives who work at the jewelry store but he was not allowed near the crime scene to check on them due to law enforcement presence.

“We’re just trying to make sure they’re OK because right now we’re worried,” he said.

He said he also wants to make sure that his family is able to keep working.

Angie Ayala, who was visiting the market Sunday with her foster daughter, said the shooting made her feel like she cannot go anywhere anymore.

“Our kids are not safe,” Ayala said. “I wish people would be understand that it’s impossible now to go out, take care of your kids, take care of each other. It’s crazy.”

Circumstances of Sunday’s shooting remain under investigation, police said.
