PLATTEKILL, N.Y. (NEWS10)– Two Amsterdam residents are facing felony charges after a traffic stop on the New York State Thruway Monday. According to troopers, Jessiah Haynes, 25, and Ashley Guilder, 31, are accused of having drugs and a ghost gun in the car.
Around 11:40 a.m. on Monday, troopers initiated a traffic stop on a 2008 Jeep for a traffic violation. Upon the stop, the driver, identified as Haynes, was driving the car with a suspended license.
Police K9 Kell conducted an exterior sniff of the car and alerted troopers to the presence of narcotics. A search reportedly found approximately 149 grams of cocaine, .4 grams of crack cocaine, 13.2 grams of Suboxone and a polymer 80 .9mm semi-automatic “ghost gun.”
Charges:
- Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the second degree, a class A-II felony
- Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the third degree, with the intent to sell, a class B felony
- Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the second degree, a class C felony
- Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the third degree, with a previous conviction, a class D felony
- Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the third degree, an ammunition feeding device, a class D felony
- Criminal Possession of a Firearm, a class E felony
Haynes was also charged with aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle in the third degree and received uniform traffic tickets. Guilder was also charged with two counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree.
The two were transported to the Ulster County Jail Central Arraignment Part for arraignment. They were then remanded to the Ulster County Jail, where they are being held without bail.
Troopers said an investigation remains ongoing.
