18-wheeler catches on fire, causing major backups on I-10 Katy Freeway at Blalock

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — Drivers are experiencing major delays on the Katy Freeway due to an 18-wheeler catching on fire Thursday morning.

Houston TranStar verified the incident just before 9 a.m., stating that the main lanes and exit ramp are being affected on IH-10 Katy Westbound at Blalock Road and Echo Lane.

Traffic cameras show plumes of smoke coming from the big rig, which appears to be carrying large cargo.
