Celebrities are known for many things, whether they own multi-billion-dollar companies, star in television shows, or write hundreds of hit songs.

Many famous people also have weird and downright bizarre habits hidden behind the scenes. It’s fascinating to get a sneak peek into the lives of the rich and famous to see what goes on behind the facade.

1. Steve Jobs and Carrots

According to the Financial Post, the late Apple founder Steve Jobs was big on natural remedies and healthy lifestyles. He tried many juice combinations to cure his cancer but later regretted it.

However, one of his weirdest habits was a week-long carrot juice binge. He reportedly even turned “slightly orange” because of it. This was all because he heard that carrot juice is good for your health.

2. Ben Franklin’s Air Baths

While INC does talk about how spending more time in nature makes you feel happier, Ben Franklin might have gone slightly overboard with this concept.

In 1768, he recommended taking air baths, which meant sitting naked in an empty bathtub in front of an open window for 30 minutes. While allowing your body to breathe is essential, this sounds like overkill.

3. Beethoven and His Coffee Beans

If you think you’re a coffee snob, you’re wrong. Few people are more particular about their morning cup of joe than composer Ludwig van Beethoven.

Beethoven used to count 60 individual beans daily to brew for his morning coffee. Like many artistic people who have rituals, he was insistent about this one. No one likes a poorly made cup of coffee, but Beethoven couldn’t stand the idea.

Shigeru Miyamoto is a renowned Japanese game designer, producer, and director at Nintendo. He’s invented many spectacular games and has some interesting habits.

The game guru always carries a measuring tape because he wants to measure objects he encounters to know their precise size. Maybe his fascination with measurements is the reason for his success.

5. Nikola Tesla Rarely Slept

Some of the greatest minds in the world had terrible sleeping habits, and Nikola Tesla might be at the top of that list. To be productive, he reportedly slept in six 20-minute intervals throughout the day.

Imagine sleeping for 20 minutes, having to get up, and going through that process six times every day.

6. Elon Musk’s Meticulous Sleep Planning

Nikola Tesla may have slept in intervals, but Elon Musk has his take on sleep schedules, as well. They might not be what you expect. Since he’s a busy man, Musk has slots reserved for sleep on his calendar. He has five minutes blocked for naps throughout his week.

He recently changed his routine to sleeping six hours a day, as the old routine was “hurting his brain.” I don’t know if being this meticulous about your daily schedule or napping for five minutes is more bizarre.

7. Tony Robbins and Ice Baths

According to experts at UCLA Health, ice baths have many advantages, including promoting better circulation and reducing inflammation. Robbins takes this to extremes when he enters a steaming hot sauna and immediately jumps into a chilled ice bath.

This might not be as bizarre as others on the list, but it doesn’t sound like something anyone should do daily.

8. John Quincy Adams and His Skinny Dips

John Quincy Adams was the sixth president of the United States and had an interesting ritual: He went skinny dipping in the Potomac River every morning.

His timing made this extremely inconvenient because he entered the waters before dawn. It’s hard to picture the president of one of the most prominent nations enjoying a skinny dip.

9. Mark “One-Shirt” Zuckerberg

Despite being a billionaire, Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg has frugal habits. He wears the same gray shirt all the time.

Zuckerberg likes to live an efficient life, so to avoid making decisions in the morning, he sticks to the same-colored shirt and doesn’t deviate from it. Considering his net worth, maybe he’s doing it right.

10. James McAvoy Is Superstitious

James McAvoy is a Scottish actor who has weird superstitions. If you happen to be the first person to collide with him on the first of any month, he’ll say the phrase “white rabbit.”

He inherited this superstition from his grandmother, who claimed that it brought you good luck. To each their own.

11. Christian Bale is Anti-Superstitions

While McAvoy believes in some bizarre superstitions, Christian Bale has the opposite idea. He hates following the norm, so he purposely flouts superstitions that others say bring bad luck.

Bale has been known to intentionally walk under ladders to prove that superstitions aren’t real. Ironically, this is the same as following ritualistic behaviors, which he’s trying to disprove.

12. Kit Harington Does Things in Threes

Actor Kit Harington is highly superstitious, and his Obsessive Compulsive Disorder adds to that. While on set, he’s known to do things in sets of three, like kissing the stage three times before filming.

This isn’t limited to movies. He must touch an airplane three times before flying. While the number three has been associated with luck in many cultures, his behavior is more of a result of his diagnosis.

13. Paris Hilton and Eleven-Eleven

According to the Dictionary, 11:11 originated as a myth, drawing from numerology. While many people associate it with time, there are instances where 1111 is also associated with good luck in other scenarios.

Influencer Paris Hilton has tweeted about 1111 nearly every day since 2009, and it seems to have become a ritual. While many people have made an eleven-eleven wish, going to this extent seems a bit weird.

The rich and famous are notorious for spending money on various skin and beauty treatments to stay young. According to CBS News, Demi Moore uses one such treatment, but it sounds really icky.

Moore is an advocate of leech treatment, the same leeches that suck blood. Devotees say It helps their skin feel rejuvenated.

15. Tom Cruise and Bird Poop

According to the Huffington Post, Tom Cruise loves to keep his skin fresh with a Geisha facial. Although it sounds fairly standard, a Geisha Facial is actually made from bird poop.

Victoria Beckham introduced this Japanese facial to Hollywood, and it cost $180. That’s not a lot of cash for a Hollywood celebrity, but under the right circumstances, you can get it for free.

16. Morgan Freeman’s Jewelry

If you’re a Morgan Freeman fan, you know he always wears two gold earrings. According to Unilad, Freeman talked to Instagram about why he never changes them and the morbid reason behind his decision.

He explained that the earrings cost enough to buy a coffin, so if he died in a strange place, they could bury him using his earrings.

17. Heidi Klum and Baby Teeth

Imagine carrying a pouch of your own baby teeth everywhere you go. That’s what Heidi Klum did for years. Her mother collected them as a child, and Heidi carried them around in a pouch in her bag for good luck between modeling gigs.

Although she doesn’t do it anymore, it was a highly superstitious ritual and weird on many levels.

18. Serena Williams’ Ball Bouncing

Serena Williams is one of the most famous tennis players in American history. However, even she had a weird ritual before starting her match.

She’s reported tying her laces the same way before playing and bouncing the ball nine times before the game begins. Considering she’s the cream of the crop, it might be time to bounce some balls.
