The victim was pronounced dead on scene, police said.

A 17-year-old boy died in a car crash in Nantucket Saturday night, officials said.

The Nantucket Police Department received several 911 calls for reports of a car crash in the area of Bartlett Road, police said in a press release.

First responders found that a 2024 white Dodge Promaster van crashed into an earthen berm at the intersection of Bartlett Road and Raceway Drive. The driver of the vehicle, a 17-year-old Nantucket resident, was found dead behind the wheel with injuries from the crash, police said.

“The van was upright, on top of the bern and showed damage to the front of the vehicle,” officials said in the statement.

Relatives of the victim were notified and no further information about him will be released, police said.

There were no witnesses to the crash or evidence that other cars were involved. The incident is under investigation, but officials said there was evidence speed was a contributing factor to the crash.
