Cavaliers vs. Toronto Raptors

The Cavaliers kick off a lengthy homestand with tonight’s game against the Toronto Raptors. The Raptors struggled to notch wins last season but have played .500 basketball this season. Still, the Cavs should have the advantage. The game begins at 7. The Cavs will return to the arena on Saturday to face the Memphis Grizzlies at 5 p.m. on Saturday.

The ’80s synth-pop star who had a massive hit in 1982 with the tune “She Blinded Me with Science” comes to House of Blues. Over the years, he’s been an innovative musician who’s played synthesizers for the likes of David Bowie, Stevie Wonder, Joni Mitchell, Roger Waters and Foreigner. The show starts at 7 p.m.

Dr. Sketchy’s Anti-Art School

Founded in 2005 in a dive bar in Brooklyn, Dr. Sketchy’s has now spread to more than 100 cities around the world. Dr. Sketchy Akron, a monthly drink and draw event that takes place on the second Thursday of each month at Jilly’s Music Room in Akron, gives patrons the opportunity to “draw glamorous underground performers in an atmosphere of boozy conviviality.” The fun begins at 7 p.m.

The Christine Jorgensen Show

Cleveland Play House Artistic Director Michael Barakiva, who directed the show’s Off-Broadway premiere, brings this show about the person who reportedly became “the first transgender celebrity in America.” Tonight’s performance takes place at 7:30 at the Outcalt Theater, where performances continue through Nov. 16.

Mahler’s Sixth Symphony

Tugan Sokhiev conducts the Cleveland Orchestra as it plays the Mahler symphony dubbed “Tragic.” The concert will also feature the U.S. premiere of Geoffrey Gordon’s Mad Song, a piece inspired by William Blake’s poetry. The concert begins at 7:30 p.m. at Mandel Concert Hall, where performances continue through Saturday.

Cleveland Charge vs. Wisconsin Herd

The Cleveland Charge, the G-League affiliate of the Cleveland Cavaliers, plays its home opener tonight at 7 at Public Hall. The first 2,000 fans in attendance will receive a Schedule Mini Hoop. 10,000 Maniacs

The independent route is nothing new for 10,000 Maniacs — as their promotional biography notes, they were “the original indie band,” having released an EP and an album independently on their own prior to signing with Elektra to release their second album, The Wishing Chair, in 1985. Expect to hear songs from those formative albums as well as more recent material when the band plays at 7:30 p.m. at the Kent Stage.

The Uncle Louie Variety Show

Wish You Were Here

The group boasts that it is the longest continuously performing Pink Floyd tribute act in the world. Doors open at 7 p.m.
