A plane crashed in northwestern Brazil on Saturday, killing all 14 people onboard, said Gov. Wilson Lima of the Brazilian state of Amazonas.
The aircraft was believed to be carrying tourists, and local Brazilian news outlets reported that American citizens were on the plane, Reuters said.
The doomed plane, a twin-engine Embraer PT-SOG, had taken off from the Amazon city of Manaus, and was attempting to land in drenching rain when it crashed, local media reports said, according to The Associated Press.
Lima said on social media that the aircraft crashed in the sparsely populated municipality of Barcelos. He said he was praying for the victims.
The Brazilian air force said it had sent a team to search the area and investigate, according to the AP.
