1 dead after crash involving cement truck, mini-van in Brevard County

The northbound lanes of U.S. 1 have reopened in Brevard County after a crash left one person dead and injured another on Monday afternoon, according to Florida Highway Patrol. They say the crash happened around 3 p.m. on US-1 and First Street.According to FHP, an 81-year-old man was driving a mini-van in the southbound lane of US-1 while a cement truck was driving in the northbound lane. For reasons unknown to FHP, the driver of the mini-van crossed the median into the direct path of the cement truck. The driver of the mini-van was pronounced deceased on-scene, and the driver of the cement truck sustained minor injuries. The crash is still under investigation.
