Lichine’s Liquor & Deli in Land Park sold another winning ticket, this one matched five out of six numbers drawn worth $1.7 million.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Someone in Sacramento has in their possession a $1.7 million lottery ticket — they just have to come forward and claim it.

The Mega Millions jackpot, which will rise to $977 million Friday, was not hit during Tuesday’s draw, but Lichine’s Liquor & Deli on South Land Park Drive sold a ticket matching five out of six numbers drawn worth $1.7 million, according to the California Lottery.

The winning numbers are: 24, 46, 49, 62 and 66.

Lichine’s sold a winning ticket worth $1.67 in November 2021; the liquor store was set to earn $8,000 for selling the winning ticket, ABC10 previously reported. However, no one ever came forward to claim the winnings.

In 2018, Lichine’s was listed on the California Lottery website as the sixth luckiest place statewide for winnings of $1 million or more.

Powerball and Mega Millions jackpot winners have one year from the draw date to claim their winnings, while tickets that match five out of six numbers or less can have their corresponding winnings claimed up to 180 days from the draw date, according to the California Lottery.

California Lottery officials said it sends unclaimed prize money to public education in the state of California.

Major jackpots approaching the billion-dollar threshold means the lottery has raised $115.4 million for public education from jackpot runs, the organization said. Roughly 80 cents from every Mega Millions or Powerball ticket sold here goes to schools.

In the last 5 years, an average of $50 million per year goes unclaimed. Here are unclaimed winnings for the last 10 years, according to the California Lottery:

  • Fiscal year (FY) 2013-2014: $21.7 million
  • FY 2014-2015: $27.2 million
  • FY 2015-2016: $24.3 million
  • FY 2016-2017: $46.5 million
  • FY 2017-2018: $36 million
  • FY 2018-2019: $45.5 million
  • FY 2019-2020: $75.4 million
  • FY 2020-2021: $19.4 million
  • FY 2021-2022: $57.7 million
  • FY 2022-2023: $51.8 million
