08/30/2025: Gradually Warming Into Next Week

[ad_1]

The Latest Storm Tracker Forecast from Meteorologist Kevin Appleby:

After a few of us saw some much-needed rainfall Friday, we are trending drier and gradually warmer through Labor Day Weekend. After a run of cooler than average days, temperatures may finally finish above average for a change towards the middle of next week. Rain chances return towards the end of the 7-Day Forecast.

The clear sky that many have this morning will not stay that way as both a chilly pocket of air above our heads and the sunshine will generate atmospheric instability. This means cumulus and stratocumulus clouds will be aplenty for a few hours early this afternoon, especially up north. As a matter of fact, in the North Country, I won’t rule out a PM shower or sprinkle here and there. Most of us will make it through dry though, with temp struggling to get out of the 60s. It will also turn a bit breezy, with gusts to around 20-25 MPH possible.

We lose both the winds and the clouds overnight, so watch out for another cool start with areas of patchy valley fog. Lows will once again drop into the 40s.

I fully expect some afternoon clouds Sunday, but it will be consistently brighter with a fewer amount of them bubbling up as temperatures rise aloft. Additionally, temperatures here at ground level will also warm a bit, with many making it up into the low to mid 70s for the middle of this Labor Day holiday weekend.

Labor Day looks to be an absolute gem with seasonable temperatures, light winds, a mix of sun and afternoon clouds, and continued low levels of humidity. Tuesday will be a worthy follow up, but with slightly more clouds and a few terrain-driven, pop-up, PM showers possible.

Wednesday looks more consistently bright and dry with highs near 80, in what looks like our warmest day of this forecast. The average high that day is 79, so much of this 7-Day Forecast is once again dominated by seasonably cool temperatures – both at night and during the day. Rain chances return towards the end of the abbreviated work week. Most of the guidance holds off on widespread rain chances until Thursday night or Friday, but a select few hint that a few showers or downpours may be able to make it to our region later Thursday afternoon. So, I can’t promise Thursday will be great, but most of the guidance is pointing towards another nice early September afternoon.
