Some of the best weather we’ve seen in months is on the way as a cold front slices through the Carolinas this Sunday evening. A few strong storms are possible as we close out the weekend, but most will get off scot-free. Winds will shift out of the northwest by Monday morning, allowing cooler and drier air to filter into our area. Highs will fall into the mid-to-upper 80s for most across the Piedmont and Foothills, while the High Country will struggle to get out of the 60s thanks to clouds and a few showers. Some of these showers may bleed into the Piedmont, but most spots around the Metro will remain dry for much of this week ahead as a powerful ridge of high pressure blankets the Eastern Seaboard.
It only gets better as we head deeper into the workweek. Highs will fall into the lower 80s across the Piedmont and Foothills by Wednesday despite abundant sunshine. Humidity levels will also take a tumble as continental air pours in from the north. Lows will fall into the 50s around the Metro and northward and may even reach into the *40s* in the mountains as we wake up on Wednesday. Temperatures slowly recover into next weekend, but rain chances remain very low over the next seven days.
