CLEMMONS, N.C. (WGHP) — A woman who was charged with operating an illegal childcare facility in Forsyth County in February now faces child abuse charges.
The Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office says they began investigating an illegal childcare facility on Stone Bluff Drive in Clemmons called “The Nest” in late January.
Originally, in Sept. 2022 the facility had received a warning from the North Carolina Department of Child Development and Early Education, part of NCDHHS, to cease operation because they had determined that they were operating unlicensed.
On Feb. 1, 2024, the sheriff’s office determined that “The Nest” had not shut down even after being told to stop operation by the NCDCDEE.
As a result, Brittany Danielle Clark, 35, was arrested and charged with a felony count of providing childcare without a license.
In March, was charged with two counts of felonious child abuse.
She is in the Forsyth County Law Enforcement Detention Center under no bond.
The investigation is ongoing.
The illegal facility was in no way connected to “The Nest Schools,” a nationwide organization that provides daycare, childcare and preschool programs, which has a location on Twin Brook Drive in Clemmons.
