ROCK HILL, S.C. — Winthrop University’s sports will not be the same with the passing of legendary coach Mark Cooke.

On Saturday, April 20th, students, staff, players, and alumni came together to honor Coach Mark Cooke by naming the service road behind Winthrop’s softball field, Terry Field, Coach Cooke’s Way.

Continuing to honor his memory, the Lady Eagles won the first game of their doubleheader 9-1 against Charleston Southern. The second game was cancelled due to hail and strong storms that pushed through Rock Hill.

A pancake breakfast will be held on Sunday, April 21st at Terry Field as a way to wrap up the weekend celebrating the late Eagles Hall of Fame coach.
