Wine For Life is a fundraiser for The Jed Ian Rare Cancer Foundation.

On Friday, October 18, wine lovers are invited to attend a special event called Wine For Life, a fundraiser for The Jed Ian Rare Cancer Foundation.

Each year, more than 200,000 people are diagnosed with a rare cancer in the U.S. and they often have little hope for a positive outcome. One of those people was Jed Taxel, who died of a rare cancer in 2017.

“My cousin passed from a rare cancer seven years ago, and his parents started a foundation in his name to support better research and outcomes in rare cancers,” says organizer Ezra Taxel. “Our family foundation has committed to raising $5 million dollars over five years to support new research at the Case Comprehensive Cancer Center and help change the way that rare cancers are treated.”

The event will be held at The Madison (4601 Payne Ave.), with food provided by Sophie La Gourmande in Cleveland Hts. The general wine tasting, which runs from 7 to 10 p.m., costs $200 per person. That tasting is preceded by a VIP Rare Wine Tasting experience that runs from 5:45 to 7 p.m. and costs $1000 per person. Some of the rarities enjoyed last year included a 2007 Harlan and Coglin, 1971 Riesling, 2003 Dom Perignon, 2018 Coche-Dury White Burgundy and 2016 RdV Lost Mountain.
