Wildlife Watch: Tracking the rare Canada lynx in Vermont

BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) – Determined to make up for a missed penalty 24 minutes earlier, Yaniv Bazini put a head to a Nathan Simeon rebound and found the back of the net, handing Vermont a 1-0 over previously-unbeaten UConn Tuesday night at Virtue Field.
A wet evening yielded nothing but a couple saves for the first 60 minutes, before Jeremy Tsang’s long range effort was blocked with the hand of a Husky defender. Bazini was called upon to take the ensuing penalty kick, but a late stutter step and a phenomenal save from Max Kerkvliet denied the Catamount star the opener.
In the 84th minute though, Mike Bleeker sent a cross into the box, Simeon headed it on, and Bazini did the rest to decide the game.
“The moment that I actualy missed it, I had already been to the next page,” Bazini said after the game.“I just said, ‘OK, I have to give my team what I took from them.’ And I’m glad that I had that opportunity and got in and gave us the dub. So more than happy that it was possible to make it.”
Vermont moves to 6-1-4 with the win. On Sunday, it’s back into conference play as the Cats host NJIT.
