What Yoga Taught Me
[ad_1]
When I first started yoga I didn’t think it would have such an effect on me I thought it would be fun work out but it really has transformed my life around in ways that I would have never thought were possible, Here are some things that yoga has taught me in my 1-year journey.
Trust The Process
It never feels as if I’m moving forward and feels messy and sometimes I want to stop but you got to trust the process. You don’t realize how far you come when you’re in the midst of a journey but sometimes you got to trust the process and stay in the journey you’re better than you think you are.
Focus on the moment
When you’re trying to hold a standing pose and you let your mind wander you always stumble, I know I do. I often have to tell myself ” I am here on my mat” to get my mind back and focus on my pose but now if I get those intrusive thoughts I often say ” I am here…” and it helps me relax and stay in the moment.
You have to practice
Have you ever tried to go a few days without stretching? How about after finally mastering a pose and you try it again and your body no longer remembers what it is? I hate that! With yoga, you have to be consistent with life you have to be consistent with work, with people, with everything you have to be consistent.
Things are temporary
This more has to do with the principles but you have to remember things are temporary, embrace the now and live for the moment because you won’t get another chance as my old Vice Principle used to say it’ll never be this date again so make it count.
Breathing will help almost anything.
I have anxiety pretty bad and regularly have panic attacks. Yoga has helped me focus on my breathing as well as meditation at the end helps me decompress after a long day and reminds me throughout the day to take a few breaths and remember where you’re at, and what you’re doing and it helps me remain focused until the temporary moment has passed.
Overall I love yoga it’s a great way to help your body move and no matter what anyone tells you the right flow can be a workout. What yoga do you do, if you do any at all? Thank you for reading my post and don’t forget to share it with your friends!
