Wednesday forecast: Warm and sticky in Chicagoland, with Fourth of July and NASCAR Street Race on tap

[ad_1]

Chicagoland is set for an action-packed stretch of summer the next few days, and weather conditions are shaping up well.

The lead-in to the Fourth of July will be warm and sticky, as early-morning temperatures Wednesday were already in the low to mid-70s throughout the area, with dew points reaching the low 70s in some locations.

Spotty showers are moving through the area in the morning, but the clouds will clear later, leading to a warm and mostly sunny Wednesday afternoon, with highs in the upper 80s. However, there is the possibility for a late-day drop in temperatures along the immediate lakefront.

Then, the Fourth of July on Thursday is looking mostly dry and partly sunny, with just a stray shower or two possible. Highs will be in the low to mid-80s inland, though lakeside temps could stay in the mid-70s.

There’s a chance for rain late Thursday night into Friday, then the weekend shows partial sunshine and temps in the 80s, with a low chance of rain, for the NASCAR Chicago Street Race in Grant Park on Saturday and Sunday.

Forecast

TODAY: Spotty showers are possible in the morning, before clouds decrease and temperatures climb into the upper 80s.

TONIGHT: Warm and dry, as lows fall to the lower 70s.

FOURTH OF JULY: Partly sunny, with a very small chance for a stray shower or two. As inland highs reach the mid-80s, lakeside temperatures stay in the mid-70s.
