A question I get asked more than almost any other at theCHIVE over the years is “Why Bill Murray?” My answer has always been, “He’s not just an icon, he’s my (our) icon”.
My cousins John & Leo, along with my brother Rick, always watched films with Bill Murray in them over and over as kids. Particularly films like Caddyshack, Ghostbusters, Groundhog Day, and my personal favorite, Stripes. These Murray films are truly the movies that made us. It’s woven into our DNA.
So fast forward to us as adults and not a lot has changed. The difference, however, is that through a series of winding events and “karma,” if you will, we have had the incredible pleasure of not just meeting, but even collaborating with Bill over the years. I still pinch myself to think that this is not a fantasy I made up in my own mind. I think it’s not anyway…fingers crossed.
Seriously, how lucky are we?
