WATCH: Video shows two planes clip wings at Hopkins airport

CLEVELAND (WJW) — Video released to the FOX 8 I-Team shows what happened at Cleveland Hopkins International Airport as two planes got into an accident, clipping wings.
It happened in May, but the Airport video has just been released to FOX 8, and the incident is still under investigation.
In the video, you see a Delta jet moving in toward a gate at the terminal. As that plane tries to squeeze past a Spirit Airlines jet already parked, a wing of the Delta jet clips the other plane.
“Aircraft are not designed to bump into each other like that,” said Robert Katz, a commercial pilot and flight instructor.
Nobody was hurt in the incident, but Delta said the collision caused damage to a wingtip.
Katz said an incident like this calls for a thorough inspection of the planes.
“Examine all the component parts that could have been impacted, directly, and also indirectly. Their function, their reliability, their performance can all be compromised. Everything on an airplane serves a purpose,” he added.
While the incident happened months ago, we found it still under review. In fact, when it happened, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) said it would investigate. And, for this story, the FAA issued the same statement. The National Transportation Safety Board told us, though, that agency is not looking into it.
We’ve seen incidents before at Hopkins where planes taxi and park.
In one case, video showed an Airport supervisor drive a vehicle in front of a moving plane. In another case, a passenger ran off of a plane and down to the tarmac.
In this case, Katz pointed to certain factors. He took special note of the way one plane pulled in, and the way the other had parked.
“Its up to the human beings involved. They’re all team players that are supposed to work together,” he said.
