Yesterday in Phoenix, GQ Sports opened the doors to the GQ Sports Style Hall of Fame—our brand-new way to celebrate the coolest athletes of all time. To mark the occasion, we threw an event featuring our three inductees—Derek Jeter, Allen Iverson, and Deion Sanders—with each star in the building to talk about their legendary careers. Sanders—better known these days as Coach Prime, for his new job running the University of Colorado football team—was interviewed onstage by the well-loved wide receiver Chad Ochocinco Johnson.

“I can’t believe that I’m sitting here,” Sanders said at the beginning of their chat, “and Derek Jeter and Allen Iverson just sat here. That is iconic in itself. God, it’s iconic!” And after asking the audience whether they wanted Prime or Coach Prime (“Prime!” Johnson said), Sanders got down to business. He explained that his Style Hall of Fame honor was a dream come true (“I pride myself on putting on some clothes”), and shared the roots of his legendary saying: “When you look good, you feel good. You feel good, you play good. You play good, they pay good.” And the duo also did something they say they do every time they meet: the cornerback and wide receiver lined up across an imaginary line of scrimmage onstage.
