SACRAMENTO, Calif — A case of violent road rage was caught on camera. It happened Friday near Watt Avenue and eastbound Business 80 during Sacramento‘s rush hour commute.

“I was taken aback by the aggressiveness and the persistence of the suspect in this particular video,” said Officer Ruben Jones, CHP spokesperson.

The video shows the truck driver swerving toward the blue car not once but twice. The driver attempts to exit the freeway, but the truck follows right behind weaving through trafffic.

“So as aggressive as that pickup driver was, he is lucky that he didn’t hurt himself. He is lucky that he didn’t hit anyone else,” said Jones.

The video shows the aggressive driver crossing the median to chase down the other car.

“To go across the median like that just to pursue somebody else, whatever is going on, it’s not that important. You have to let that go,” said Jones.

Jones emphasized that there are serious charges for this type of behavior on the road.

“The charges could range anywhere from as low as reckless driving, which is still a fairly significant charge, on up to assault with a deadly weapon where your vehicle becomes that weapon. Assault with a deadly weapon is a pretty significant charge,” said Jones.

Anyone who ends up being a victim of road rage, should stay in their car, according to CHP. If the person follows you, call 911 and try to get the make and model of the other car, a license plate number, the direction you’re headed an your closest exit.

“If you know you’re near a police station exit, drive right to the CHP station or the Stockton Police Department or the Sacramento Police Department, where you know you’ll be safe,” said Jones.
