Upper 90s in the forecast Saturday

[ad_1]

PORTLAND, Oregon — PDX hit 96°  Friday afternoon and we expect to tack on a few more degrees Saturday before relief oozes in on Sunday.

Beaches will be in and out of fog while coastal communities see a partly sunny sky Saturday with high temperatures generally in the 70s.

Saturday’s forecast in Portland is 98°, the record is 102° (set in 1987).   The metro area will cool somewhat on Sunday thanks to an onshore push of marine air through the Coast Range.  Depending on how thick the clouds are and how fast they burn off, we may hold just shy of 90° Sunday.

More significant cooling arrives Labor Day Monday as high temperatures hold in the upper 70s to near 80° in Portland. Most areas across western Oregon will wake up to a least some cloud cover Monday morning. There’s also a slight chance of a shower, mostly in the higher terrain of the Coast Range and Cascade foothills. Thunderstorms may pop up east of the Cascades on Monday.

Tuesday looks to be pretty comfortable as well before another warm up arrives the middle of next week.  The details of how warm and for how long are still unclear, though a few more days in the mid 90s look possible next Wednesday & Thursday.

Have a great, safe holiday weekend
