We gain raw, unprecedented access to Premier League footballer and star of the 2018 World Cup, Jesse Lingard, as he and his close family talk on camera for the first time about the personal lows that followed the professional highs of the tournament.

With his mother hospitalised due to clinical depression in 2019, Jesse gives us an honest insight into what it was like stepping into the role of carer for his younger siblings, while still playing football for Manchester United. As his performance on the pitch dipped, Jesse reflects on his mental health battles since then, and what it’s like to be a professional athlete living under such intense media and fan scrutiny.

We also see him return to his grandparents’ house in Warrington where he grew up as well as celebrating his daughter’s fourth birthday. Told through the lens of the looming England 2022 World Cup squad announcement this is a chance for Jesse to contemplate on the last four years of his life and look forward to what’s next with current club Nottingham Forest.
