TROY, N.Y. (NEWS10) — The Rensselaer County Sheriff’s Office announced the arrest of two Troy residents following a drug investigation. Carlos Rivera-Muller, 41, and Katherine Rodriguez, 55, were both charged with two counts of third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance.

An investigation into the sale of cocaine and fentanyl in Rensselaer County resulted in Rivera-Muller and Rodriguez being identified as suspects, and the pair was taken into custody without incident. According to the sheriff’s office, Rodriguez has five prior felony convictions and Rivera-Muller has two.

“Our office remains steadfast in our commitment to protecting the health and safety of our residents. To those who continue to peddle these dangerous substances, I want to make it clear: we are coming for you,” Rensselaer County Sheriff Kyle Bourgault said. “Drug dealers who spread poison in our neighborhoods are not only breaking the law but are also wreaking havoc on countless lives. The harm caused by these drugs is immense and far-reaching; affecting families, friends, and the very fabric of our community.”

The two were arraigned at the Rensselaer County Court before being released on probation supervision.
