Tracking the Tropics: NHC tags tropical wave over the Central Atlantic Ocean

The National Hurricane Center has tagged a new area of interest in the tropical Atlantic that has some chance of developing as it moves toward Florida. According to the NHC, an area of disturbed weather is expected to interact with an approaching tropical wave during the next several days. The large tropical wave just moved off Africa’s west coast and is expected to keep moving west. The exact path and development of this system is still uncertain as it’s too early to make any definitive predictions. Some model runs show something tropical forming near the state next week, but other models show nothing at all. WESH 2 First Warning meteorologists are keeping tabs on the system as it moves west. The tropical system will have to fight a lot of dry air and dust as it moves across the tropics, which could completely tear the system apart.
