Tom Brady, Elton John, Ed Sheeran, and Other A-Listers Attend Robert Kraft’s Surprise Wedding In NYC

The 81-year-old billionaire Robert Kraft, Chairman and CEO of The Kraft Group, whose holdings include the New England Patriots, threw a “Kickoff and a Touchdown” party for himself and Dr. Dana Blumberg, the 47-year-old ophthalmologist he has been dating since 2019. What most revelers at Friday night’s affair didn’t know until they showed up at Hall des Lumières, a Beaux-Arts style bank converted into exhibit hall and event space in Lower Manhattan, was that the invite was actually for a wedding. 

Voice of the NFL Al Michaels introduced the couple as husband and wife to what PageSix estimated was 250 guests. It remains unclear where the legal side of the nuptials took place, but Kraft did step on a glass, as is customary in Jewish tradition.

Among the celebrants was Tom Brady, the longtime quarterback for Kraft’s New England Patriots. (He currently plays for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.) Brady’s wife, Gisele Bündchen, was not in attendance, as per PageSix. The couple have been having rather public marital issues, which are said to spring from his decision to come out of retirement and continue playing football. (The seven-time Super Bowl champion signed a $50 million contract for two more years with the NFL in 2020.) 

Other football pros at the wedding bash included Ty Law, Richard Seymour, Troy Brown, Andre Tippett, Randy Moss, Vince Wilfork, Jerod Mayo and Drew Bledsoe, according to NBC Sports Boston. 

The big men of the gridiron got to rub shoulders with some big names in music and business, including Sir Elton John. Indeed, the night of the affair was somewhat dictated by EJ’s touring schedule. Some weeks ago Elton’s “Farewell Yellow Brick Road” rolled into the Kraft-owned Gillette Stadium in Foxboro, Massachusetts. As the business magnate, eye doctor, and Rocketman were kibitzing backstage (apparently the singer admired Blumberg’s engagement ring), the couple said they were thinking of eloping soon. John said he would love to play the wedding “as a gift,” according to PageSix. 

The six-time Grammy-winner, two-time Oscar-winner, and one-time Tony-winner came through, belting out “Philadelphia Freedom,” “Tiny Dancer,” and more. 

Indeed, Ed Sheeran joined in a duet of “Candle in the Wind.” (At no level of success do musicians cease singing for their supper.)

Meek Mill also performed at the bash, and Grandmaster Flash was the DJ. Jon Bon Jovi and Kenny Chesney were among those spotted on the scene, as were a slew of other business big shots, like Warner Bros. Discovery head David Zaslav, producer Brian Grazer, Shari Redstone, Ari Emanuel, NBA Commissioner David Silver, and Stephen A. Schwarzman, the CEO of The Blackstone Group who gave $100 million to the New York Public Library, so technically the main branch is now called The Steven A. Schwarzman Building, but if anyone ever calls it that they are immediately deported from the city. 

Kraft’s four sons, including 58-year-old Kraft Group President Jonathan Kraft, were also in attendance, welcoming their new 47-year-old stepmom. In September 2020 charges against him were dropped in a massage parlor sex bust.
