On April 8th the Earth, Moon and Sun will all line up in Space. According to NASA, this total solar eclipse will cross North America, passing over Mexico, the United States and Canada.
For those in the path of totality, it will be dark enough for people to see stars!
The last total solar eclipse in America was in August 2017, but NASA says this eclipse will be even better than the one in 2017. “Comparatively, 2024’s total solar eclipse is “better” than 2017’s, because the path of totality is almost 60% wider and the duration of the eclipse is about 60% longer.”
The next total solar eclipse will not occur in the Unites States until August 2044, but this will only be in a couple of states. The next coast-to-coast total solar eclipse will be in 2045.
CHARLOTTE — We will not see totality, but we will see a partial solar eclipse at 80% totality. Clouds do look to build in through the day, but it does not look like they will be abundant at this time. Stay with the WCCB Charlotte Weather Team as we keep you updated!
