After moving across the country, I had no problem filling my kitchen with top-notch essentials thanks to the nature of my job — reviewing cool products! But when it comes to tableware, I just couldn’t seem to find anything that felt right. After all, my mom is a ceramicist, and back in LA I was lucky enough to stock my cabinets with all her “seconds.” She’s set the standard pretty high (although I do truly love the KT editor-favorite East Fork mug). I couldn’t take all my beloved ceramic pieces with me in my move, but I did manage to carefully wrap up my all-time favorite handmade handless mug, and I’ve been starting my NYC mornings sipping from it ever since.

I didn’t think I’d ever give that thing up — it’s a little piece of home, the perfect size for my latte, and a part of my morning ritual. Recently, though, I discovered a totally new way of having my cup of joe, and I’m not sure I’ll ever go back. One morning with Klean Kanteen’s new 10 oz Rise Lowball Tumbler was all it took — sorry mom!

Like all my favorite Klean Kanteen products, this stunning little thing is vacuum insulated. Unlike other products on the market, it’ll actually keep cold drinks cold (I like my coffee iced, — yes, even in the winter) for up to 10 hours and will keep hot beverages hot for up to two. Its efficient temp-regulation can be attributed to the brand’s award-winning Climate Lock technology and a durable stainless steel construction (which is 90 percent post-consumer recycled).

Although I use my tumbler for my morning coffee, I’ve also whipped it out it for less AM-appropriate bevs like a margarita. Or take last night for example. After a super long day, I ran out and grabbed a bottle of wine, which was room temp. Luckily, I had plopped my Klean Kanteen in the fridge (they don’t recommend putting it in the freezer), so when I returned all I had to do was add a few ice cubes in the lowball and pour up a cup. And guess what? As I poured a second glass (like I said, it was a long day!) the ice cubes hadn’t melted even one bit.

While I do tend to use it sans top (as you can see above), I’m quitting the habit as of now. Why? Well, for starters, the temperature regulation works best with the cap securely fastened, but using the lid also makes the vessel totally spill proof — an added feature that my clumsy self should absolutely take advantage of. Other reasons I love this tumbler: It’s dishwasher-safe (a huge plus when using it for both booze and caffeine), it has an impact-resistant base for dent- and scratch-free drops, and it will fit in practically any cup holder —a huge plus when I visit LA.

I took it out with me for my morning walk this AM, and it so was comfy in my hand that I practically forgot I had my coffee with me! The bottom line? Whether I’m BYOB-ing a glass of wine I actually like to a friend’s place, snuggling up with hot cocoa while camping, sipping tea on my fire escape, or just sitting at my WFH desk and enjoying my cold brew, this totally stunning Klean Kanteen will get the job done better than any glass, mug, or bottle ever could. If I gave up my beloved hand crafted mug for this thing, think of what wonders it’ll do for you.
