For those among us who have a keen sense of the things we really, really like (or just a healthy curiosity for new stuff), the best subscription boxes for men aren’t really a hard sell. Maybe you’re into the idea of discovering new products, want to make sure you stay on top of shipments for things you regularly need—think razors and coffee—or want to score a cool discount on the expensive booze or outdoorsy gear you’ve been ogling. For all of the above, there’s a box out there just rearing to do the heavy lifting for you.

Subscription boxes also give folks a way to dive into a product category they know little to nothing about, like if you want to get into vino but are basically clueless about how to describe your preferences to the snobby wine shop guy. Or, just bought a coffee grinder and want to go all in on the whole “small roaster” shebang. For dedicated enthusiasts, boxes also take the guesswork out of having to make your own decision at the checkout page, allowing the pros that work at each service the opportunity to dazzle you with their curation skills (usually fine-tuned to your highly specific tastes).

Sure, signing up for subscription boxes can be overwhelming if you’re slow to unbox and enjoy everything because the constant deliveries can be overwhelming (for you and the planet). But most services usually offer you the opportunity to pause and take a breather, or skip a month or so entirely. Below, we sniffed out the best men’s subscription boxes—from clothing to food and grooming to house plants—to find the subscriptions worth showing up at your door on the regular or *taps forehead* to send as a holiday gift to the best men you know.

The Best Subscription Boxes for Men:

The Best Food Subscription Boxes

Porter Road butcher’s choice box

Porter Road founders James Peisker and Chris Carter started out as chefs before turning their attention to butchery. Their reasoning? A lack of quality in the meats they were buying. No matter what cuts or types of meat you want (from sausage to pork chops to ground beef), Porter Road has got you covered—unless you’re, ahem, vegan. Choose from curated boxes like the Butcher’s Choice box seen here to a stacked lineup of meats for its Weeknight Heroes ($120), or streamline your choices with some prime cuts from the Best of Porter Road Box ($128). Each box ships every two, four, or eight weeks, with the option to add individual products to each box for an additional fee. It’s like being able to go to your local butcher shop without actually having to put pants on.

Bokksu snack box subscription

Top up the most important office supplies in your home office (snacks) with a curated service like Bokksu, which specializes in small bites from Japan—and we’re not just talking renditions of popular American snacks in Japanese flavors, like green tea KitKats or the like. Instead, Bokksu works directly with Japanese brands, some of which have been in the business for generations, to mix up your typical chips and granola bar rotation with unique flavors and textures you might have trouble finding stateside. Each box comes with almost two dozen snacks and candies (from mochi and small pastries to teas), as well as a helpful guide to tell you exactly what you’re eating or sipping. The introductory box helps you get a feel for the tasty world of Japanese snacking, and after that, Bokksu sends you themed boxes with equally mouthwatering goods.

ButcherBox basic meat subscription box

Instead of regularly heading out to your local grocer to pick up a fresh cut of meat for the week, consider outsourcing your meat needs to ButcherBox so it can do the heavy lifting for you. You’ll get regular deliveries of everything (from grass-fed beef to wild-caught seafood) you need to feed yourself and your family, at the cadence of your choosing. Butcher Box prides itself on ethical, sustainable sourcing, so you’ll only find humanely raised and harvested meat from farms and fisheries that uphold fair labor practices. Not in the mood to write up your own shopping list? Let the box gods take the reins with a curated box that comes with nine to 14 pounds of the good stuff.

Blue Apron meal kit subscription (2 weeks)

There’s a meal-kit subscription for every stripe of home chef out there, but Blue Apron remains the reigning champ with its easy recipes, quality ingredients, and flavor variety. Plus, where other meal kits often feel like someone just went to the grocery store for you, the Blue Apron kits are a bit more color-by-numbers. Things like spices, honey, and vinegar come in nice Blue Apron bottles and tear-off packets that feel made for the recipe; other meal kits often cobble together these things in odd looking plastic vials or waste food by giving you more than you need. Get three recipes per week, serving two people, for about $60—or gift a subscription to the lazy chef in your life come the holidays, when everyone starts wanting to stay cozied up in their apartment.

Best of Goldbelly subscription (3 months)

Goldbelly offers a monthly subscription for pretty much every viral food category, from cookies and cakes to BBQ, or you can order the Best of Goldbelly box for “legendary” surprises every month spanning all categories. The shipment will serve (at minimum) four people so you can think of it less like a pragmatic feed-me-I’m-busy subscription and more like a party in a box. For that reason, this one also makes an especially nice gift for hosts and friends.

Grill Masters helps you level up your BBQ game by ditching the grocery store rubs, sauces, and dips for under-the-radar mixes, from Peri Peri sauce for South African-style wings to a crispy jalapeño spread for dialing up the heat. Actual pitmasters are behind the curated themed monthly boxes, which can include anything from grilling accessories to tasty noms to help you branch out from your usual marinades and rubs. You can even buy grilling accessories separately or opt for a mystery grilling box of curated BBQ goods.

Jeni’s pint club subscription (3 months)

For the person who needs a regular hit of sweetness after dinner, Jeni’s smooth, creamy ice creams (with flavors like banana cream pudding, brambleberry crisp, and middle west whiskey) are always worth the brain freeze. Cementing its status one of the coolest ice cream purveyors around, Jeni’s regularly issues high-profile collaborations on custom flavors (Jeni’s has collabed with Joe Biden, Dolly Parton, and Tyler, the Creator, to name a few). You can choose from a three-month subscription package all the way up to a full calendar year of new ice creams in the freezer. Your move.

The Best Alcohol Subscription Boxes

Since it launched towards the end of last year, Parcelle has proven to be a superlative wine subscription. Each month gets you a themed shipment with three wines, plus descriptions and pairing information for each one. It’s a bit pricey—you pay about $30 per bottle—but each wine individually tends to be a bit more expensive than that, and otherwise hard to find. (Special shoutout to the company’s commitment to cartoons, which make wine notes a lot more fun to read.) If you want a deeper dive into wine subscriptions, we’ve got you.

Beer Drop’s craft beer service made our list of the best subscription boxes because it allows you to get super specific when customizing your orders (which is a major boon for picky beer drinkers, whether you’re more of a malt guy, an IPA enthusiast, or prefer a tart sour). To get started, you’ll select some of your top beer preferences from a range of categories on the site. Then, working with breweries around the country, Beer Drop supplies you with a personalized order of five different craft beers (two cans of each) to sip throughout the month. Serious beer fanatics can even opt for a Beer Drop Ultimate membership that include special releases and rare beers.

Mashbox is a spirits subscription that’s based around what you typically like to sip, except instead of samples you get a full-size bottle every month along with geek-friendly tasting notes. If you’re looking for a spirits subscription that’ll help you build out a killer home bar, this one’s for you. Sign up for three, six, or 12 months (and beyond) and you can pay as you go or all at once. Prices depend somewhat on the spirit you’re after, so gin is $44 per month, scotch is $79 per month, and everything else is somewhere in the middle.

Like a good bartender, tell Flaviar what you typically like to drink and it’ll take care of the rest, no hassle. In each monthly tasting box you’ll get three 1.5 oz. vials filled with rare and/or pricey spirits in the theme you’ve chosen, along with notes to provide you with a quasi distillery tour experience. If you want to turn your box into a tasting party, you can increase the quantity of your monthly shipment for an additional charge. Plus, once a quarter you’ll get to pick a full bottle of something you especially liked for free. The Flaviar welcome box costs just $47, but you’ll pay $51 for a monthly plan or $165 for an annual fee.

The Best Coffee Subscription Boxes

Trade Coffee supscription

We’re big fans of never running out of coffee here at GQ, so naturally Trade Coffee is among our favorite subscription boxes for men. Not only is it naturally appealing to automate your coffee situation as much as humanly possible, but Trade lets you sample from small roasteries that deliver on flavor, ethical practices, and vibes. Tell Trade what you like and how often you want beans when you sign up and they’ll take care of the rest. (A subscription also happens to make a great gift for the conscientious coffee consumer in your life who actually knows the difference between single origin and blends.)

Atlas Coffee subscription

In a similar vein, Atlas Coffee is for the coffee snob who likes to travel, at least when it comes to their roasts. This subscription box supplies you with a steady stream of single-roast beans from all over the world—like Brazil, Columbia, and Ethiopia (the birthplace of coffee)—that you won’t find on shelves, so it’s ideal for the person who wants to branch out from local roasteries or blends from big chains. Each order comes with postcards from each country of origin that run through some of the flavor notes in each roast, along with brewing tips. Just select your grind and roast preference, light or medium, and how often you want to get restocked (two bags every month nets out to $28), then get ready for a whole new world of flavor.

Driftaway Coffee subscription

When it comes to coffee, you just sort of know what you like. But if you’re trying to kick your education up a notch so that you actually know why you like a certain coffee, then Driftaway is the coffee subscription to help with that. The brand is all about learning more about coffee while delivering some of the most excellent beans around. Your initial box, the Explorer Kit, comes with five coffees sourced from around the world, and from there you’ll hop on a call with one of Driftaway’s coffee nerds to help guide you through your very first tasting. It’s way more advanced than a simple quiz and it gives you the ability to ask questions and delve deeper into a topic that will make you seem like the coolest kid in your coffee shop.

The Best Clothing Subscription Boxes for Men

Personal Shopper by Prime Wardrobe

Amazon’s menswear offerings are getting better all the time, but actually navigating those offerings on the Everything Store’s often chaotic user interface is a whole other story. That’s where its Personal Shopper by Prime Wardrobe service comes in. For just $5 a month, you’ll get a boxful of the choicest goodies available on Amazon—from brands like Lacoste, Calvin Klein, and Adidas, among others—all curated to your tastes, needs, and budget. You’ll have a week to try on the eight items in your box—and from there, you can just send back anything you don’t want. There’s just one catch: You need an Amazon Prime membership in order to sign up.

We might be a little bit biased, but our quarterly subscription box can more than hold its own in the clothing-sub arena. This season, the GQ Box is anchored by a Goodlife sweatshirt and Oliver Cabell bracelet, which itself is worth the cost of the box. Along with GQ editor-approved style essentials, every box also includes our hand-picked favorite finds in tech, grooming, and beyond, racking up a retail value of at least $200 but costing you just 50 bucks. And if you’re looking for a deal, you can choose the subscription option to pay upfront for the whole year, which costs $190.

Good Counsel men’s clothing subscription

Good Counsel is the subscription that combines all of the convenience and discovery of something like Stitch Fix, but specializes in being more size inclusive with tops up to a size 8XL and pants with a waist up to 72 inches. Since the brand designs and controls the inventory, instead of a grab bag of lousy t-shirts and ties, you’ll find pieces that all work together harmoniously. The aesthetic is minimalist and sporty, in the vein of joggers, knit polos, and bomber jackets (i.e. just what any comfy remote work uniform calls for).

Menlo Club clothing subscription

For a flat rate of $60 a month, Menlo Club will curate a couple of items from its roster of in-house labels—including New Republic, the shoemaker behind some of our fave sub-$100 Chelsea boots and white sneakers. Beyond the rock-solid footwear, expect to find some trendier bits (like a camo rugby shirt or cropped cargo cords) and style-forward-ish activewear and athleisure in the mix. This is stuff you probably won’t wear all the time and definitely won’t own forever, but might do the trick if you’re looking for an affordable way to freshen up your fit rotation once a month. One thing worth noting, though: Menlo Club doesn’t do returns (though you can exchange items for size), so choose wisely because what you get is what you keep.

Stitch Fix clothing subscription

Stitch Fix is another subscription service that works on the same basic model as the rest: Fill out a form, work with a stylist, receive a box of clothes, and then pay a $20 styling fee that gets applied toward anything you choose to keep. Stitch Fix serves up a mix of low-to-midrange brands you’ve seen in malls (Original Penguin, Jack & Jones, Tommy Bahama) and a few generically-named ones you haven’t (7Diamonds, Hawker Rye). They’re totally workable options if you aren’t really looking to push any boundaries with your style and just need clothes for clothes’ sake.

The Best Accessories Subscriptions

Despite the increasing popularity of dudes wearing smartwatches instead of regular ol’ timepieces, some guys still love the classics. With Wang Gang, a new watch will show up at your door every month, with prices starting at $60 per watch. There are currently three tiers offered—original, black, and platinum—each of which offers actual watches valued at way more than the subscription price. Brands include Nomos Glashütte and Zodiac, and those with active memberships are automatically entered in to giveaways to potentially win big with a (gasp!) Rolex, Tag Heuer, or Seiko.

Stance clothing and underwear subscription

Let’s set the scene: It’s the end of the month and you’re running perilously low on underwear and/or socks. It’s already late on Sunday evening, and doing laundry seems like a drag. We’ve all been there before. If it’s a scenario that feels all-too-familiar these days, Stance’s socks and underwear subscription service might be for you. The specialty sock brand and one-time official sponsor of the NBA lets you pick and choose a pair each month from its deep selection of styles—or, if that’s too much effort, Stance will do it for you.

Sprezzabox accessories subscription

If you’re the type of dude who has no trouble at all getting dressed but tends to falter when it comes to the finishing touches, this is the monthly box for you. Each month, Sprezzabox will deliver a selection of men’s accessories—like ties, socks, and various grooming accoutrements. After signing up for a new monthly subscription, you’ll have the option to choose which type of box you’re into—a process that repeats itself at the end of every four weeks. If you don’t have time to choose, or don’t care enough to, the brand will pick a new, duplicate-free box for you.

MeUndies socks and underwear subscription

MeUndies is known for its super soft (sustainable) fabrics and cheeky prints. If that’s your thing, you might as well sign up for a membership, which gets you a new pair of socks or underwear every month for 30% off the original retail price. Actually, even if you’re not the type of guy who desires a pair of boxers depicting, say, chicken nuggets kissing, the brand also does socks and underwear in black, white, navy, and all the other tones of the minimalist rainbow. And because you choose what you get every month, you can stay squarely in that lane if you so choose.

The Best Grooming and Personal Care Subscriptions

Dollar Shave Club grooming subscription

They’ve kept the name, but Dollar Shave Club is more than just a shaving company now—you can upgrade your monthly shipments with shower and oral care products, as well. A basic starter kit of everything (razor, four blades, and shave butter) costs just $19, so you can check out the whole assortment before committing. Set the cadence for how often you’ll want a re-up and then you’re set for life pretty much.

Harry’s shave kit subscription

Harry’s is one of the biggest names in shaving, and its shave kits really do offer a lot of value for the price. For just $13, Harry’s sends you a starter set with a razor, five-blade cartridge, travel blade cover, and shave gel. (You have four options for the razor handle color, including a $10 upgrade to graphite.) Then, you choose which kind of plan to opt into once the trial period lapses, which will ship roughly two months later. You can choose just the blades, add on shaving gel, or double the dose for a family of shavers. You also select the frequency of shipments based on how often you shave.

Bevel shave kit subscription, 1 month

If you prefer to shave with a safety razor (it provides less dragging, and is often preferred by those with thicker facial hair), Bevel is the subscription for you. Your first order is the starter kit, for $86, which includes a safety razor, shave brush, 40 blades, priming oil, shaving cream, and post-shave balm. Then, you can have the products and blades replenished bimonthly (or whatever frequency you need) for $60 each.

Hims prescription subscription

From skincare to bedroom enhancers, Hims has you covered. The brand offers doctor-backed treatment plans for whatever ails you. After you take an introductory health quiz, Hims will pair you with a licensed provider in your state, who will then help you determine what options are best for you. Online consultations and delivery are gratis, so all you pay for are the treatments themselves.

If you’re doubling down on No Shave November, consider a curated beard kit from Beard Club that comes with as many of the brand’s oils, tamers, stylers, washes, scissors, combs, and growth supplements as you fancy. Anything that needs replenishing will be shipped to you monthly, which you can expand or reduce as needed so your kit can be as expansive or limited as you need it to be, from a single oil to a whole haul of beard maintenance essentials.

Scentbird cologne subscription

If you’re a commitment-phobe about fragrances—or shopping around for a new signature scent—Scentbird’s dabble-friendly subscription could be just what you need since you can try scents in smaller vials. Secure a month’s supply for just $17, allowing you to, uh, sniff out a whole bunch of scents before you settle on a favorite. Each sample supposedly lasts about 120 sprays, which means you’ve got to limit your daily trials to four to five sprays each. Not too shabby, especially considering the service carries GQ-approved eau de parfums from brands like Acqua di Parma, Versace, Burberry, and more, at a wide range of pricing options.

Lumin Skincare subscription

For just the cost of shipping and handling, Lumin—the brand behind one of our all-time favorite moisturizers—will send you one three skincare starter sets for free: “classic maintenance,” “anti-fatigue essentials,” or “age management”. After 30 days, you’ll receive the full-size version of those products at a 5% discount. The boxes keep coming every two months as you run out of products and need to reup, so you can cancel or take a break whenever you feel like it.

Seed prebiotic and probiotic subscription

There are a tons of new vitamin and supplements brands out there right now, and most offer a subscription plan, but Seed has some special qualities that helped land it on this list. First, it focuses on a single, powerful product: DS-01; a probiotic/prebiotic supplement for supreme gut (and everything else) health. Second, it boasts a nice-looking and not-terrible-for-the-environment packaging system. Your first month’s box includes a reusable glass jar and travel vial, and after that you’ll get your refills in a compostable sleeve for a reasonably planet-friendly subscription.

The Best Lifestyle (and Everything Else) Subscriptions

Bespoke Post subscription

Each of Bespoke Post’s boxes comes centered around a specific story or theme, with the express purpose of introducing you to something you haven’t seen before. The brand releases a handful of new boxes every month so there’s always a fresh influx of products on its site, and you can opt to switch or skip a box entirely every time around. Aside from high-quality, outdoors-y clothing items, Bespoke Post also stocks grooming products, spirits, and the type of leisurely gear you’d associate with the sort of person who gets excited about terrycloth tees from Rhythm and sturdy button-ups from Taylor Stitch. If that sounds like you, congratulations: You’ve officially found your subscription service soulmate.

Man’s best friend will have its own best friend, and sadly it won’t be you. That’s because Fido’s lined up to receive a monthly delivery of BarkBox, a wonderful assortment of dog treats and dog toys to keep your very good boi or girl happy. While your dog won’t understand it, each box follows a special theme like something timely for the holidays or something random (but still fun!) to celebrate national parks.

Outdoor Fellow monthly candle club

There are two types of candle people in this world: The kind that can make a nice candle last forever and the kind that actually use them up down to the bottom of the wick. If you fall into the latter camp, you’ll appreciate Outdoor Fellow’s subscription, which delivers you a new candle every month so you never have to let the flame burn out. The beauty of this subscription is that you decide what you’re getting every month, so you can keep ordering your favorite scent over and over again, or go HAM and let the Fellow choose for you. Oh, and you’re also getting a 15% discount in the process.

If you’re nostalgic for Brookstone and SkyMall or just love discovering things you never knew you needed—a travel bidet! a quick-inflating chair! a self-warming butter knife!—you’ll enjoy Breo Box. It’s pricey as far as subscription boxes go, but that’s because it comes curated with a handful of accessories, gadgets, and clever home goods that tally up to a retail value of $300 or more. Brands include well-known favorites like Yeti, Zippo, OXO, and more. The most Breo of all previous items? A Tesla x ARC USB candle lighter.

Whether you’re something of a green thumb or someone who can barely keep a cactus alive, Horti is here to help. The plant subscription “connects people with plants that are perfect for them,” and teaches them how to thrive (the plants, not the people). The basic plan gets you a new plant in a 6-inch clay pot every month (fun detail: you get to choose the pot color). Plants start out hardy and easygoing and get gradually more complex from there. Once you get a hang of having a little green friend, you can spring for the cooler rare plant subscription. Just make sure to find the right lighting and humidity sitch for that rainforest plant that just got shipped out to your apartment.

Book of the Month subscription

The person with an impressive Goodreads record (or the person who just wants to read more, period) could benefit from a Book of the Month subscription, which lets you choose from a curated selection of five of the best new reads every month—including fiction and nonfiction spanning a range of genres, and even early releases before they hit shelves. You decide how many new books you want to read, with the option to skip certain months if you’re lagging behind on your last one. Your first book is $10, and every subsequent one is between $13 and $17—which saves you money on buying new books if you compare them to brand-new hardcover prices. As a bonus, regular Book of the Month Club members get access to exclusive rewards and merch (who doesn’t love swag?).

BattlBox basic subscription box

Battlbox is all about ensuring that you’re ready to tackle the great outdoors. Each monthly box offers a variety of survival gear, EDC, and outdoor essentials to pack up on your treks—from a cozy sleeping bag to a high-optics pair of binoculars to go birding with. The most basic box is just $35 for a couple small things, though the actual stuff inside is valued at around $60. If you’re a serious outdoorsman, consider a Pro Plus box, which offers a bounty of crunchy goods valued at $287 for the much lower fee of just $170 a month.
