Annoying it’s only on the $100 cards, but might be useful for some.

Office Depot and OfficeMax have a new gift card deal this week. You can get an instant discount of $15 when you purchase $300 or more in Visa gift cards.
Mastercard gift cards have an activation fee, but during these promotions, the discount wipes out these fees. There’s a limit of 1 discount per customer but you should be able to do multiple transactions depending on your location. Check out the details below.

Office Depot and OfficeMax sell $200 Visa gift cards that have an activation fee of $7.95. To get the $15 instant discount, you need to spend at least $300. To maximize rewards and the discount, it’s best to purchase two $200 MasterCard gift cards, which will cost you $415.90. Take off $15 at the register and you’re paying just $400.90. So in this case you are paying 90 cents in fees for two $200 gift cards.
It should also be possible to purchase three $200 MasterCard gift cards for a total of 623.85. This normally triggers a $30 discount, which is the best way to go as it gives you an small profit instantly.
This Office Depot Visa gift card discount is quite popular and we see it every few weeks. Check your stores early in the week as stock runs out often.

Staples has a new promotion that can get you free credit card rewards. These are popular promotions that we have seen more frequently in recent times. You can check the upcoming ad for this latest Staples Visa Gift Card promo.
During the promotion period, you can buy $200 Visa gift cards with no activation fee at all. That fee is normally $7.95 per card. So this is a good opportunity to purchase these gift cards at face value. Check out the details of this latest fee-free Visa gift card deal at Staples.
🔃 Update – This offer is back again between:
No purchase fee (a $7.95 value) when you buy a $200 Visa® Gift Card. See weekly ad here.

This Visa gift card promotion at Staples is quite popular. So I would suggest going to your nearest location early on Sunday because stock runs out quickly. That’s especially true now that they have run continuous promotions every few weeks.
With the new limit of 8, is now easier to make larger purchases at the same store. And remember, this only applies to $200 Visa gift cards. Some Staples stores also carry variable load Visa gift cards (up to $500) with a $5.95 fee, but those cards are not eligible for the promotion.

Kroger has a promotion for gift card purchases online. Use code NEWYEAR2024 at checkout for $10 off $150 or more in Visa or Mastercard Gift Cards.
Online you can only purchase $25, $50 or $100 denominations, so you will need to buy at least two cards to get the discount. There’s a $6.95 fee for $100 denominations and $5.95 for $50 denominations.
You will also earn fuel points every time you purchase a new gift card which is an added bonus for those who have Kroger locations nearby. These purchases are processed by Blackhawk Network, so they do not code as grocery purchases.

Office Depot and OfficeMax have a new gift card deal this week. You can get an instant discount of $15 when you purchase $300 or more in Visa gift cards. These offers are a good opportunity to earn Ultimate Rewards points if you have any of their locations nearby. The Chase Ink Business Cash will earn 5X points on these purchases.
Visa gift cards have an activation fee, but during these promotions, the discount wipes out these fees. There’s a limit of 1 per customer but you should be able to do multiple transactions depending on your location.

Office Depot and OfficeMax sell $200 Visa gift cards that have an activation fee of $7.95. To get the $15 instant discount, you need to spend at least $300. To maximize credit card rewards, it’s best to purchase two $200 Visa gift cards, which will cost you $415.90. Take off $15 at the register and you’re paying just $400.90. So your out of pocket cost is just $0.90 for the credit card rewards.
If you have a Chase Ink Plus or Chase Ink Cash card, you would earn 1,995 Ultimate Rewards points. You can also use an Amex SimplyCash Plus Business Card which earns 5% cashback at office supply stores as well. That would give you $19.95 in cashback.
However Chase Ink Business Cash or Ink Plus would be my choices as Ultimate Rewards points are more valuable, and worth more than one cent each. Assuming an average valuation of 1.6 cents per point, you would be earning 8% cash back on these purchases.
And here’s another tip. It should also be possible to purchase three $200 Visa gift cards to get a $30 instant discount, or even $1,800 in gift cards (9 x $200) for a $90 discount.
This Office Depot Visa gift card promotion is a good opportunity to earn Ultimate Rewards. Chase Ink Business Cash earns 5X on office supply purchases, up to $25,000 per year.
The $15 discount almost wipes out the activation fee on two gift cards. That means that you’re getting almost free credit card rewards.
You can try stacking this offer with cash back from Dosh or Rakuten, although gift card purchases are excluded in the terms. Also check your Chase cards for an additional 10% discount. These offers come and go, but they’re worth keeping in mind so you can can make this deal even more profitable.

Giftcards.com is offering a $10 discount on $100 Virtual Visa Gift Cards. That means that you’re paying just less than face value, as they come with a $5.95 activation fee. To get the discount you can use the following promo codes:
Each code can be used to purchase up to three $100 Virtual Visa Gift Cards. This promotion is valid through end date or while supplies last.
This is a good promotion if you need to get some spending done. You should also check shopping portals such as Rakuten or RebatesMe for extra savings.
Just keep in mind that using virtual gift cards might not be as easy as using physical gift cards. But even if you don’t a way of draining these cards, you can use them for regular online purchases.
Disclosure: This article contains affiliate links. If you take action (i.e. subscribe, make a purchase) after clicking a link, I may earn some beer 🍺money, which I promise to drink responsibly. When applicable, you should always go through shopping portals to earn cashback. But when that’s not an option, your support for the site is always greatly appreciated. Thank you for reading!

Update 11/13/23: Deal is back from 11/13 – 11/23. Limit one so purchasing a $300 card won’t trigger it twice. Hat tip to GC Galore
Last week purchasing a $500 gift card triggered the discount three times for $30, unsure if that will be the case this week as well.
Hat tip to Bret

Direct Link to offer (contains our affiliate – you might want to use a shopping portal instead)
This offer comes up periodically. Lately it’s only been working for the $100 denomination which makes it not very interesting given the $5.95 processing fee. You can buy three $100 Visa e-gift cards and get the full $15 discount. There will be a fee of $17.85 which is mostly offset with the $15 discount.
Stack with a shopping portal. Always check your Capital One shopping website and app to see if there are any special offers (I’m seeing 3%). We’re not yet seeing the promo code mentioned on shopping portals, but it can’t hurt to click through and use that instead of our above-mentioned affiliate link. Note: Giftcards.com sent out a memo to affiliates that the affiliates won’t get paid when customers use a promo code, so shopping portals probably won’t end up paying out either.
Check your Citi Merchant Offers for an additional 1.5% back offer.
