    Rupali Ganguly and Gaurav Khanna starrer Anupamaa is making everyone emotional with its current scenes. Samar’s death scene is making fans cry and Rupali Ganguly, Sagar Parekh have delivered a brilliant performance. It was heartbreaking to see Anupamaa and Samar’s last conversation in the show. It really broke many hearts and brought tears. However, what grabbed attention was Vanraj blaming Anuj for Samar’s death. It was disappointing to see Anuj being blamed and fans feel that there will be a separation now. People are not happy about knowing Anuj and Anupamaa’s separation.     Well, now producer Rajan Shahi has opened up about Samar’s death and Anuj-Anupamaa separation track. Speaking to IWMBuzz, Rajan Shahi said that Samar’s death track is essentially the biggest blow to a mother but tragedy never sees any date or time.     He further added that Anupamaa will never overcome this loss, but will learn to live with this fact and raise her voice against Samar’s killers.     Rajan Shahi confirms Anuj, Anupamaa separation track

    Rajan Shahi confirmed that there will be a separation. He said, “Yes, there will be distancing.” Well, with this confirmation, now #MaAn fans have to make themselves ready for some extra emotional and heartbreaking scenes.
    Recently, Rupali Ganguly penned down an emotional note for Sagar aka Samar. She shared pictures from their last scenes and poured her heart out.

    She wrote, “Anupamaa and her Bakuda Samar …..one of the most beautiful mother son bond created on television….the very first relationship I connected to coz that was the very first promo I shot …Have loved this extremely detailed emotion of a mother with her favourite child .. a child who understands her , encourages her , gives her strength, holds her hand , treats her like a queen …. A son who is her world and for whom his mother is his world …This emotion was further amplified when Saagar came in as my Samar ….”

    On the same day that the Season 3 finale aired, Hulu has announced that it is renewing its hit TV series Only Murders in the Building for a fourth season. Man, if I lived in the Arconia, I would not be happy about this. Because the show is literally about only the murders committed in that building — and the body count at this fancy Manhattan apartment complex keeps rising and rising.

    Only Murders was created by Steve Martin and John Hoffman, and stars Martin, Martin Short, and Selena Gomez, as an unlikely trio of true-crime podcast fans who try to solve a murder that occurs in the Arconia — and then when that investigation (and their own podcast, which is also titled Only Murders in the Building) goes well, and another Arconia resident winds up dead, they continued solving crimes. In Season 3, the crew tried to solve the murder of the star of a Broadway play, played by Paul Rudd. Meryl Streep also guest starred on this season of Only Murders, playing a struggling actor who gets a part in the same show as Rudd’s character, and becomes a prime suspect in his death.

    Only Murders consistently ranks among Hulu’s most watched series; its Season 3 premiere was the most-watched premiere of any of the streaming services originals this year. As it should be; the show is funny and its mysteries are always entertaining as well. If it continues on for too much longer, it’s gonna have more violent deaths than a Friday the 13th sequel. But maybe that can be the premise of Season 5 or something.

    The first three seasons of Only Murders in the Building are now streaming in their entirety on Hulu.

    We wish Heels the best of luck in its future endeavors. But in an actual sincere way, not the WWE way. The show has gone on for two seasons, and it tells the story of two brothers, by the names Jack and Ace Spade. The two are rivals, and with the former being a heel and the latter being a face. While their feud plays out in kayfabe, there’s also an actual battle playing out on a personal level. Both of them want to go on to own their father’s wrestling promotion and become national acts.

    Mike O’Malley, Heels’ showrunner, recently spoke with Entertainment Weekly about a potential future for the show. While it may be done at Starz, it could live on at another home.

    O’Malley siad he was on a picket line for the just-concluded writers strike when he got a call from Starz saying they were canceling the show.

    When asked if he was seeking a new home for the show, he responded in the affirmative.

    Yeah, we are actively doing it right now. And some of the actors are still under contract. Obviously, the strike just ended. I couldn’t have any conversations about this and granted, they just told me on Friday. But not only are we trying to, I really believe the Starz executives when they say they want to see a future for the show too, because they did invest a lot in the show… I really do think it’s going to have a life someplace else.

    O’Malley also claimed they did not and do not intend for the recent Season 2 finale to be “the last episode of the show.

    We’ll see. Heels is currently streaming on Starz.

    Fans of the Bruce Willis and Cybill Shepherd crime dramedy rejoice! Moonlighting is finally coming to streaming on Hulu.

    For those not familiar with the show, it ran from 1985 to 1989 and was a solid mix of drama, comedy, thriller, and romance. The show was also one of the first examples of dramedy on TV. It was innovative in other ways, like including fourth wall breaks, and having other characters cameo from different networks.

    It also helped to boost Bruce Willis to stardom. While the showrunners knew they wanted him cast in the role of David Addison Jr. immediately, they weren’t able to get past the wishes of the network. The network didn’t think that any tension between Willis and Shepherd would be believable, so they made the showrunners sit through auditions until they were satisfied. The show ended up being a major success.

    Getting the show on streaming has been a long and hard-fought battle, mostly owing to the fact that while Disney now owns the rights to the show, it didn’t own the rights to the music that appeared on the soundtrack. Glenn Gordon Caron, the creator of the show, recently spoke to Entertainment Weekly about the struggle to bring Moonlighting to modern audiences…

    When deals were made for the music, no one anticipated streaming. In order to exhibit the show [on streaming], the owner of the shows, which is the Walt Disney Company, has to go back and make deals for all that music — and they’ve resisted doing that for six or seven years now … With all the attention that Bruce has been getting, hopefully one good thing that might come out of it is we can reinitiate the conversation with Disney about releasing the streaming rights.

    It looks like that conversation finally happened. All five seasons of Moonlighting will be streaming on Hulu on October 10.

    Clearly, animated series based on video games do well on Netflix. The streaming service has had multiple seasons of a Castlevania series, along with a Carmen Sandiego show. They just announced they’re making a Tomb Raider show, and they also revealed a Devil May Cry anime from Adi Shankar as well. The show is based on the hit series of Capcom games about a demon hunter named Dante and his quest to kill demons. The most recent game in the series, Devil May Cry 5, debuted in 2019.

    Netflix also debuted a first teaser for the show as well.

    Here was series creator Adi Shankar’s comment on the news (Shankar was previously the executive producer on Netflix’s Castlevania animated series):

    Here is the series’ official synopsis:

    play to open the portal between the human and demon realms. In the middle of it all is Dante, an orphaned demon-hunter-for-hire, unaware that the fate of both worlds hangs around his neck.

    No premiere date for the Devil May Cry series has been announced. The series has been greenlit for eight episodes.

    The Tomb Raider film series appears to have sputtered out for the second time, but fans of Lara Croft now have a brand new TV series to look forward to — this one animated and coming to Netflix in the near future.

    The series, officially titled Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft, was just announced by Netflix as part of their first “DROP 01” event hyping a whole slew of animated content on the service. Some of the stuff they showed off had previously been announced by this new Tomb Raider series was a surprise. Hayley Atwell of Agent Carter fame will voice Lara on the series.

    Not only did they reveal the existence of the show, they also premiered the first teaser for it as well:

    The very first Tomb Raider game debuted in 1996; since then, it has remained one of the most famous and top-selling of all gaming franchises. It was previously a film franchise starring Angelina Jolie, who made two Lara Croft films, and Alicia Vikander, who made one Tomb Raider prequel/reboot in 2018.

    Picking up after the events of the highly successful Tomb Raider videogame Survivor trilogy as told in 2013’s Tomb Raider, 2015’s Rise of the Tomb Raider, and 2018’s Shadow of the Tomb Raider, the animated series will chart the globetrotting heroine’s next chapter as she takes on the role of the iconic tomb raider that she is destined to become. Twenty-five years after her first game appeared, Lara Croft continues to explore new territory.

    It’s October so you know what that means: Pumpkin Spice flavored Netflix. Okay, no, not technically. But in a metaphorical sense, sort of: There’s plenty of good new horror stuff coming to streaming this month, including and most notably, the latest series from horror guru Mike Flanagan, the guy behind The Haunting of Hill House, Midnight Mass, and The Midnight Club. This year’s model is The Fall of the House of Usher, based on the classic Edgar Allan Poe short story. Also quite chilling in a totally different way is Pain Hustlers, a new film starring Emily Blunt and Chris Evans about corruption in the pharmaceutical industry.

    The following post contains SPOILERS for Episode 7 of Star Wars: Ahsoka. This probably should be obvious. Don’t say we didn’t warn you. We did. (Right here. This is the warning.)

    You never know who is going to show up on Star Wars: Ahsoka.

    The show has already given us the live-action debuts of Star Wars Rebels characters like Sabine Wren, Ezra Bridger, and Grand Admiral Thrawn. It threw us for a curveball when it had Hayden Christensen return as Anakin Skywalker, in a scene where Ahsoka Tano either died or had a weird dream or entered the World Between Worlds, or some combination of all three. Heck, Hayden Christensen makes another cameo on this week’s Ahsoka, once again playing Anakin, this time as a holographic message that Anakin recorded for Ahsoka during the Clone Wars, and that’s not even the “big” surprising Star Wars return this week.

    That was Anthony Daniels, reprising his role as C-3PO (human-cyborg relations) from the Star Wars films. Daniels’ name even appeared in the closing credits, coming just before Christensen’s name.

    Daniels is one of the longest tenured members of the Star Wars repertory company, and has been making regular appearances in films, TV shows, and video games since the first Star Wars in 1977. He previously had a cameo in last year’s Obi-Wan Kenobi series, and also appeared in animated form in an episode of Star Wars Rebels, and in several episodes of Star Wars: The Clone Wars. In Ahsoka, Daniels’ C-3PO delivers a message from Senator Leia Organa that helps convince a New Republic council not to court-martial Hera Syndulla.

    The season finale of Ahsoka premieres next week on Disney+. Who‘s going to show up on that one?

    Two big HBO and Max series are returning with new seasons in October. The pirate comedy show Our Flag Means Death returns, and so does The Gilded Age. Plus, the DC series Doom Patrol with more episodes from its fourth and final season. If you want new documentaries there’s one about the real-life case that inspired The Bling Ring, as well as a film about the life of Michael Chow, the man behind the famous chain of Chinese restaurants. (The film better include Steely Dan’s “Glamour Profession,” otherwise I’m sending Max a formal complaint.)

    If you want something more in a horror vein for Halloween, there are library titles like Scream, Freddy vs. Jason, Species and 2003’s Texas Chainsaw Massacre. There’s also the streaming premiere of Meg 2: The Trench, which is kind of scary? Sort of? It’s probably intended to be a little scary in theory? October will also see the debut of Max’s new sports tier called Bleacher Report Sports, which will supposedly offer “300 live games each year” to the streaming service.

Unfortunately for everyone who uses the service, that time is very soon. The service Freevee, which is also owned by Amazon, already includes ads. That being said, viewers don’s need a subscription to watch what Freevee has on offer. Prime is already $14.99 per month, but it also includes a service that no other streaming service can claim. Same-day delivery of Amazon products along with a host of other perks.

    The ad-supported Amazon Prime is due to hit your screens sometime early next year, meaning there’s precious little time to enjoy one of the last ad-free streaming services. If you really hate ads, you’ll be able to remove them — at a cost of an extra $2.99 per month. Otherwise, you’ll be stuck watching commercials during TV shows and movies on Amazon Prime.

    The comparison has frequently been made between streaming and traditional network television.     I was under the impression that the Netflix series Squid Game was meant as a cautionary tale; a warning against increasing greed, callousness, and competitiveness in society. What this new Netflix reality series presupposes is … maybe it wasn’t?

    Yes, while they wait for the second season of Squid Game, Netflix actually went out and made a real Squid Game. It’s called Squid Game: The Challenge and it features 456 contestants competing for a $4.56 million cash prize in a series of elaborate games. Now, on the Squid Game series, if you lost, you died. Presumably, that does not happen on Squid Game: The Challenge. However, there were media reports back in January when Netflix was filming this series of alleged injuries among contestants. (Netflix “vehemently denied” these claims at the time.)

    While Disney+’s new original content seems to have decreased somewhat since Bob Iger returned as Disney CEO, the streaming service did decide to make a second season of The Santa Clauses, the small-screen continuation of the popular Tim Allen comedy series about an ordinary guy who becomes the new Santa Claus after he accidentally kills the original Claus on Christmas Eve. (That kinda feels like something you should go to jail for, not get a major new job for, but whatever.)

    Disney made three Santa Clause movies and then brought Allen and much of the series’ original cast for the Santa Clauses TV show last year. The first season was supposedly amongst the most-watched Disney+ shows in terms of hours streamed (at least according to Disney) and so a second season was put into production, which is set to premiere just in time for the holiday season.

    Here is the new season’s official synopsis:

    In the series’ sophomore season, the Calvin family is back at the North Pole, as Scott Calvin (Tim Allen) continues his role as Santa Claus after his retirement plans were thwarted when he failed to find a worthy successor in season one. Now that Scott and his family have successfully saved Christmas, Scott turns his focus towards training his son Cal (Austin Kane) to eventually take over the “family business” as Santa Claus.

    The Santa Clauses Season 2 premieres on Disney+ on November 8. The season’s first two episodes will premiere on that date, followed by new episodes weekly from there.

    This week’s episode of Star Wars: Ahsoka finally gave us the big introductions of both Thrawn and Ezra Bridger we’ve been waiting for after more than a month of teasing. This episode also gave us some huge clues about where the final two episodes of Ahsoka are going — and how it is going to lead into the big crossover Star Wars movie featuring characters from this series, The Mandalorian, and The Book of Boba Fett.

    Why Has ‘Star Wars’ Given Up on a Basic Cinematic Trick?

    The image above is one of the only shots of Ahsoka Tano in the sixth episode of Star Wars: Ahsoka. After this week’s installment’s opening scene, Rosario Dawson is never seen again. The other characters mention Ahsoka a handful of times, but beyond exchanging a couple lines of dialogue with her droid Huyang, she is a total non-factor in this episode.

    That follows Episode 5 of Ahsoka, “Shadow Warrior,” in which most of the series’ main characters other than Ahsoka were absent. In that installment, Ahsoka is transported to a mysterious dimension where she encounters her old (and dead) former Jedi Master, Anakin Skywalker. Although “Shadow Warrior” included a few cutaways to Hera’s search for Ahsoka, what was going on with the rest of the cast — including Sabine Wren, Baylan Skoll, Shin Hati, and Morgan Elsbeth — was left totally unknown.

    In a vacuum, these were among the stronger episodes of Ahsoka so far. But that’s part of the problem; each individual episode feels like it exists in a vacuum, separate and distinct from the others in the series. Even when interesting things happen on Ahsoka — and this episode featured tons of fun, quirky Star Wars textural details like the graveyard of space whale bones and the giant dog alien called a “howler” that Sabine strikes up a friendship with — the show itself is so glacially paced that it’s impossible to get invested in its story. And a lot of the pacing issues, not only on Ahsoka but several other recent Star Wars Disney+ series, have shared this same issue: A bizarre and baffling lack of cross-cutting and parallel editing.

    Cross-cutting is one of the oldest film editing techniques. It was pioneered by silent filmmakers like D.W. Griffith, who recognized that cutting between two different actions taking place in two separate locations created the impression in the audience’s mind that the two separate sequences were occurring simultaneously (i.e. they were happening “parallel” to one another).

    Early film pioneers also recognized that cutting back and forth between two parallel incidents was a great way to generate tension and suspense. Instead of just showing, say, a woman being tied to a train track by a mustache-twirling villain, you cut from the woman being tied to the tracks to the train conductor asleep at the controls to the hero racing on horseback to the rescue. Will the woman break free? Will the conductor wake up in time to hit the brakes? Will the hero make it to the woman before the train? Cross-cutting keeps you invested in all of those questions, and keeps you engaged in all three sequences.

    This sort of editing not only enhances plot, it can deepen a film’s themes and ideas, by creating connections between characters, places, and concepts via juxtaposition. In the hypothetical example of the stereotypical silent movie plot of a damsel tied to train tracks: Imagine if the hero racing to the rescue had been a train conductor but was fired from his job for protesting his employer’s poor work conditions. Cutting from him to the train conductor asleep at the wheel would emphasize the dichotomy between the hero’s brave deeds and the railroad company’s negligent business practices. These are basic concepts, but they have worked their near-subliminal magic on audiences for over 100 years.

    But for reasons I cannot understand, the Disney+ Star Wars series seem increasingly uninterested in this fundamental storytelling technique. Think of The Book of Boba Fett, where the entire show and its ongoing plot about Boba Fett’s rise to power on Tatooine was interrupted for an entire episode where the Mandalorian, Din Djarin, suddenly became the focus as he tracked down his Mandalorian sect, fought over the Darksaber, and debated whether to retrieve his former companion Grogu from the Jedi Temple where he was learning the ways of the Force. Book of Boba Fett didn’t add Mando to its mix of ongoing stories; it temporarily replaced its ongoing mix of stories with Mando’s when he showed up. (Boba Fett actor Temuera Morrison later said it was “painful” to watch his character get sidelined on his own show.)

    Mando’s subplot on The Book of Boba Fett was especially strange because it seemed purposefully designed to avoid even more cross-cutting on The Mandalorian Season 3. That show’s second season finale left ended with a major cliffhanger: Grogu leaves Mando to train with Luke Skywalker at the Jedi Temple. The Mandalorian Season 3 could have then followed Mando and Grogu in parallel for a while, cutting between their separate lives to show why they needed each other, leading to an emotional, eventual reunion. Instead, it quickly brought them back together on The Book of Boba Fett, before Season 3 even began.

    These shows’ frustratingly straight-forward plot structures are particularly strange given the fact that great parallel editing has been part of Star Wars’ core DNA for decades. Think of The Empire Strikes Back, where the narrative splinters the core group of heroes and sends them off on separate quests; Luke and R2-D2 go to Dagobah to train with Yoda, while Han, Leia, Chewbacca, and C-3PO must escape Imperial forces and travel to Cloud City for refuge.

    Empire repeatedly bounces back and forth between the two parallel stories; Luke and his training, Han and Leia on the run, falling in love. As Darth Vader closes in on Han and Leia, the cutting increases and so does the tension: Will Luke leave his Jedi training prematurely just to help his friends? Will he make it back in time to save them at all? Now imagine how the movie would play out without cross-cutting; if Empire had followed only Luke and Yoda for 30 minutes, and then cut over to Han and Leia for the next 30 minutes.

    If you rearranged The Empire Strikes Back in that way, it would still contain all the same scenes, all the same witty dialogue, all the same memorable character beats. But the drama, the anxiety, the suspense would be dissipated. It would be a totally different and distinctly inferior experience.

    The people making these Star Wars shows are talented, experienced artists; and they previously made the outstanding early seasons of The Mandalorian. So I have to assume only showing Ahsoka one week and then only showing Sabine the next is a deliberate stylistic choice — just one whose purpose I cannot discern.

    When The Mandalorian Season 3 concluded, I wrote a piece about how the season wasn’t necessarily bad, but it was dominated by creative decisions that I found bizarre and confusing — and with only two episodes left of Ahsoka, I feel much the same way. There are parts of this show that are really impressive; the production and character design are gorgeous, and I’m intrigued by its coven of evil Force witches, even if I mostly do not understand where they came from or what they want.

    And yet once again, my main reaction to a Star Wars show, week after week, is bewilderment. Ahsoka episodes are typically only 30-40 minutes, and yet without cross-cutting they often feel twice that length. These editing concepts are not novel; cross-cutting was invented a long time ago. Just not, apparently, in a galaxy far, far away.
