  • Wellington CBD street parking switches to Pay by Plate next week (Wednesday 3 January) – Medical Marijuana Program Connection

Wellington CBD street parking switches to Pay by Plate next week (Wednesday 3 January) – Medical Marijuana Program Connection

Central Wellington’s ageing parking meter system is
being updated with new technology, with the new meters
installed and going live next week.

    There are 400 new
Pay by Plate machines in central Wellington, Kelburn and by
the Botanic Gardens ki Paekākā; 260 are card-only and 140
are cash and card machines. The new parking system will be
    live from Wednesday 3 January.

    Pay by Plate is a
paperless system that uses the vehicle plate number, rather
than a numbered car park, to record the parking time and
    payment.

Parking prices will stay the same, from $3 –
$5 per hour on weekdays depending on the location, and $3
    per hour on weekends.

So what do you need to know to
    be ready for the switch?

    Tips for smooth parking with
    Pay by Plate:

    · There are two types of new meter –
all meters accept PayWave and a third of them also take
    coins.

    · Coin/card meters are the black and yellow
rectangular meters that sit on the ground, the card-only
    meters are on a pole.

    · Take a note of your Parking
Area, which is on the side of the meter, eg W01. You can
ignore the old kerbside numbers – these will be removed in
    the new year.

    · Your active parking session can be
used in any parking space until it expires, so long as the
vehicle plate number and parking area are the same. If you
park in another parking area which has a different ‘W’
    (Wellington) number, you’ll need…

Gisborne’s central business district (CBD) is the focus
of a huge line-up of fun Christmas activities this
    year.

A Kiwiana Christmas workshop at the HB Williams
Memorial Library will be Christmas central for everyone in
    town.

There’ll be visits from Santa, music, a photo
booth, workshops for children, and a present-wrapping HQ at
the library throughout the month of
    December.

There’s also a new party in town with
The Christmas Street Festival being held at the Grey
Street Skate Park on Sunday 10 December from 12noon to
    6pm.

That event is being organised by the Tairāwhiti
    Adventure Trust (TAT).

    In the line-up for Sunday’s
event are food trucks, craft stalls, and a parade float
stall where the winner will be decided by public vote. This
    year’s theme is Beach Days.

    Santa will be there from
2pm and if you have a Christmas-patterned jersey, dust it
    off because there’ll be a worst-Christmas-jersey
    competition.

There’ll be heaps for tamariki with a
twinkle light tunnel, face painting, games, carols, and a
fashion parade along a candy cane runway.

    “We’re
excited to move the annual celebration of Christmas to a
different platform this year,“ says Gisborne District
Council Chief Executive Nedine Thatcher Swann.

    “All
the key components of our traditional Christmas parade will

During the June 2023 advertisements featuring ACT Party MPs started showing up in social media feeds. For those viewers without the benefit of 20/20 vision, it was hard to see the authorisation crest alerting them to the fact that they, the taxpayer, had in-fact paid for these slick well produced videos. ACT MP Chris Baillie’s authorisation statement was so small it appeared the editors behind his video were attempting some sort of world record for font reduction. More

victims from the site of yesterday’s shooting in the
    Auckland CBD.

It is also anticipated the offender’s
    body will be recovered tonight.

    Poor weather
conditions across the Auckland region impacted progress
today, adding to the complexities of the scene being a large
    multi-storey building site.

    The scene examination at
the site has been ongoing today and will continue over the
    weekend.

A cordon remains in place around the
immediate vicinity of the site and a scene guard will be in
    place overnight.

    Once the deceased are recovered,
formalities will get underway with post-mortem examinations
and formal identification to be carried out in due
    course.

Police are in touch with the families of the

  • Arrests Made Following Robbery, Auckland CBD – Medical Marijuana Program Connection

Arrests Made Following Robbery, Auckland CBD – Medical Marijuana Program Connection

    [ad_1]

Attributed to Detective Senior Sergeant Scott
    Armstrong, Auckland City District CIB.

    Three men
have been arrested after a robbery in Auckland CBD early
    this morning.

Police were called about 4.20am to
Hobson Street, where a group of five people had been
    approached by three others.

    They were then threatened
with what were described as pistols, and had personal items
    taken from them.

    The victims were unharmed, but
    understandably shaken by the incident.

    The alleged
offenders left in a vehicle, which was stopped by Police a
short time later and two men were arrested.

    The third
offender carried on and then abandoned the vehicle not far
from the scene, and was located by Police soon
    after.

All of the victims’ property has been
recovered and they are being provided with ongoing
    support.

Two airsoft air pistols were also
    located.

Three men, two aged 19 and one aged 22, will
appear in Auckland District Court tomorrow on a number of
charges including aggravated robbery, dangerous driving,
failing to stop, and firearms-related offences.

    Police
are pleased to have been able to make quick arrests in this
matter, and hope they bring about reassurance to the victims
    and the wider community.

As the matter is now before
    the courts, Police cannot comment
    further.

  • CBD Revitalisation Offers Encouragement For Auckland Retail Rebound – Medical Marijuana Program Connection

CBD Revitalisation Offers Encouragement For Auckland Retail Rebound – Medical Marijuana Program Connection

    [ad_1]

    Market snapshots: CBD revitalisation offers
encouragement for Auckland retail rebound while prime office
and industrial sectors remain in strong demand across all
    three major centres

    Auckland has seen a
positive rebound in retail occupancy according to JLL’s
    latest commercial property snapshots, released
    today.

JLL NZ’s Head of Research, Gavin Read, says
that despite an additional 3210sqm of space becoming
available, retail vacancy in Auckland’s CBD actually
decreased in the last quarter of 2022 to 8.2%, with space
around the city’s future rail stations in particularly
    high demand.

    “With the recent pedestrianisation of
Queen Street, workers returning to the office and the
restart of tourism, we’ve already seen retail vacancy
rates steadily decrease. Added to this we now see many
retailers eyeing up opportunities ahead of the scheduled
completion of the City Rail Link in 2024.”

    Office
vacancy in Auckland’s CBD is also down. While overall
vacancy sits at 10.8%, the ‘flight to quality’ trend of
companies seeking quality locations and amenities to attract
and retain staff has widened the gap between premium and
secondary space vacancies, now sitting respectively at 5.4
    and 16.3%.

“We are also seeing evidence that the
flight to quality trend is extending out to more suburban
areas like the North Shore and South Auckland too,” says
    Read.
