  • I Tried the “Supermodel Face Lift” Makeup Technique Taking Over TikTok

I Tried the “Supermodel Face Lift” Makeup Technique Taking Over TikTok

Another day, another makeup technique going viral on TikTok. We’ve seen tons of TikTok makeup trends get popular over the past few years—from dot contouring to underpainting to “I’m cold” makeup—and there’s no indication that TikTok makeup will start slowing down any time soon. The latest makeup trend that keeps popping up on my For You page is called the “supermodel face lift,” and after seeing it consistently gain more and more momentum, I decided it was time I tried it for myself.

Inspired by the lifted look we see on models like Bella Hadid, this makeup trend is all about giving your features an upward illusion. It’s fairly simple to understand—for every product you put on your face, make sure that it’s trending in an upward direction so it doesn’t look like anything is pulling you down. I followed along step by step with a TikTok explaining the trend, and the results are honestly pretty impressive.

  • I Tried 6 of Spring’s Most Viral TikTok Trends and Had My Friends Rank Them

I Tried 6 of Spring’s Most Viral TikTok Trends and Had My Friends Rank Them

I allot myself about 10 minutes of TikTok time every day: I watch TikToks while I brush my teeth and do my skincare routine, and anything longer makes me feel like I’m melting my brain. I’m not exactly the friend that you can make a TikTok reference to. Still, as a beauty editor, I like to keep up on the trends—these days, TikTok is the place to find out burgeoning beauty trends before they really hit the mainstream.

I took to TikTok to learn some of the most popular beauty trends of spring 2023. From white eyeliner to “angel eyes” to bright lipstick, this year is certainly set to be a fun one in the makeup realm, according to TikTok.

While it may be fun to watch TikToks on beauty trends, the real question is if they’re actually wearable in day-to-day life (or if they even look good outside of a phone screen). I enlisted the help of my three best (and most honest) friends to tell me which trends are hit or miss in the real world. Keep reading for the trends I tried and my friends’ unfiltered thoughts on each of them.

  • I’m a Makeup Novice, so I Had a Professional Give Me Tips—See the Results

I’m a Makeup Novice, so I Had a Professional Give Me Tips—See the Results

How long have you been a makeup artist? And what do you love about makeup?

I’ve been a makeup artist for over 10 years. What I love about my career is being able to create, transform, play with color, textures, shapes, styles, get out the rules or norms, and also sometimes innovate by creating trends. Being able to travel and work alongside other artists has also been amazing. I’ve done so many things that only reaffirm my love for makeup.

What’s the number one tip you’d give to a novice when it comes to makeup?

My number one advice I always give is don’t be afraid of experimenting. Makeup is a lot of trial and error. Whether you’re a professional or just a makeup enthusiast, I always say that you have to go through everything. After you have tried it all, then it’s easy to define your niche. This also goes for your signature look. We all have one, but before you commit to a forever red lip or black liner, try a smoky eye, a colorful look, a pink lip, or whatever is calling you to try.
