This weekend’s full moon is a partial lunar eclipse in the sign of Taurus. It will begin on October 28 at 2:01pm EDT and peak around 4:14 pm EDT. (In a lunar eclipse, the Earth casts a shadow on the moon.) The full moon will be exact at 4:24 p.m. EDT.
While we won’t be able to see the eclipse from the United States, we’ll still feel the effects, with lunar eclipses representing often abrupt endings or unexpected change. As astrology expert and author of Astrology SOS, Imani Quinn, tells mindbodygreen, we’ve also just entered Scorpio season, a time of year wrought with deep emotions and mystery.
“Scorpio energy is really famous for digging up anything with bad roots and throwing it out,” Quinn explains, adding, “so this full moon is really about the universe stepping in and not asking permission to take out whatever needs to be removed.”
Beyond that, this eclipse closes out two cycles: One being the eclipse portal that opened with the new moon solar eclipse in Libra two weeks ago, the other being the Taurus-Scorpio eclipse cycle that started back in November 2021.
That said, Quinn notes we can reflect on what’s happened in the last two weeks, as well as what we were doing two years ago and what’s changed since then. “Eclipse portals bring unexpected and destined events, so it’s not a time to try to make things happen on your own—it’s very much a time to surrender and release to the greater destiny that’s happening around you as it’s highlighting our South Node and North Node,” she adds.
Overall, with the help of Scorpio and Taurus energy, Quinn says we can expect this full moon partial lunar eclipse to illuminate our shadows and our subconscious, create breakthroughs, and catapult us forward. “We’ll be seeing a lot of truths illuminated with Scorpio, as well as clarifying our values, worth, and how we spend our time, through Taurus,” she notes.
Lastly, be sure to pay attention to what comes up for you this weekend, as the effects could linger for up to six months (come the Taurus full moon in spring), according to Quinn.

If you’ve been feeling out of sorts for the past couple weeks, you can thank eclipse season for that. But come October 28, the eclipse portal that opened with the recent new moon in Libra will close with a full moon partial lunar eclipse in Taurus.
This full moon eclipse also happens to wrap up a two-year eclipse cycle that’s been taking place on the Taurus/Scorpio axis since November 2021—but depending on where Taurus lands in your birth chart, we all have something different to expect. Here’s what to know.

With the full moon eclipse spotlighting your ninth house of travel, higher learning, philosphy, and expansion, you’re feeling a push to get outside your comfort zone, Virgo. As Quinn explains, it’s time to go into the unknown, whether that’s literally traveling to a new place or learning something new.
This expansion could happen internally as well, Quinn adds, noting that you might take interest in metaphysical and spiritual growth right now. “It’s basically about allowing themselves to stretch, and to be stretched by the discomfort, because they’re going to grow in that venturing-out process,” she says.
Feeling transformative, Libra? With the full moon eclipse landing in your eighth house of intimacy and transformation, according to Quinn, you very well might be. As she tells mindbodygreen, you’re going through an inner glow up, which can be a nice change of pace if you’re typically more concerned with outer appearances (no offense).
“Libra adores outer beauty, but this full moon is saying you need to really focus on the inner, so it can illuminate outward,” Quinn explains, adding that you’re letting go of the things that block you from vulnerability and real intimacy. “And this is also going to show up as a mirror in their relationships, because our relationships mirror back to us what we need to do internally—so Libra is going to be seeing this within their relationships and within their emotional triggers,” she adds.
With the full moon eclipse landing in your opposite sign of Taurus, that means this lunation lights up your seventh house of partnerships, Scorpio. As such, Quinn says your relationships are taking center stage under these moonbeams, and your intuition could be particularly heightened.
There will be a focus on both trust and loyalty, as well as giving those things when and where they’re deserved, she explains, adding that, “Scorpio is really going to see which people are here for the short term and which ones are here for the long haul.” And remember, she adds, just because you’re a sign that values longevity in relationships, doesn’t mean short term relationships aren’t meaningful, too.
Time to double down on your self care, Saj, as this full moon eclipse lands in your sixth house of health, organization, and routines. Sure, it might not be the pace you’re used to, but according to Quinn, right now it’s what you need most as you’re assessing deep emotions under this Scorpio-Taurus axis.
Whether it’s therapy, a spa day, a journaling session, or just sitting with your feelings, it’s OK to have emotions come up, Quinn says. “This moon could also be shifting the way their daily routine is looked at, which could be their work schedule changing or implementing more things for themselves into their schedule,” she adds.

This month’s full moon will be at its fullest around 1:30 pm EDT on Friday, May 5. The lunar eclipse will begin at 11:15 am EDT, peak at 1:24 pm, and end at 3:32 pm, during which the moon will be partially darkened as it moves through the Earth’s shadow. However, this eclipse event will only be visible in places where the moon is above the horizon—so not here in the U.S.
But even if we can’t see it here in the states, its energy will still be palpable. If you recall just two weeks ago, we had a new moon solar eclipse in Aries, which began a two-week cycle of transformation that is now about to come to a close.
As astrology expert Imani Quinn tells mindbodygreen, eclipses are a time of rapid, unexpected change, and this eclipse lands in the sign of Scorpio—a sign all about transformation and digging deep into what lurks in the shadows.
“So we see a lot of destined, fated events happen that are bringing us into alignment on our path [during eclipses],” Quinn explains, adding, “It’s not really a good time to try to make things happen for yourself. It’s best to witness, process, and surrender to the natural flow that’s taking place.”
And speaking of not forcing things, remember we are still in a Mercury retrograde period until May 14, which gives us even more reason to slow down before we take action. As Quinn says, Mercury retrograde doesn’t necessarily have to make anything worse, but it does offer us a chance to reflect and have things revealed to us in the midst of all this eclipse energy.
Now, this lunar eclipse portal “will be ending with the full moon in Scorpio, which is making for big emotional breakthroughs,” she notes. “It will create a deeper unearthing of shadow work through Scorpio, and things within the subconscious that want to be seen. So really prepare for an awakening week on a very deep level,” Quinn advises.

As Quinn explains, not only are we fresh out of retrograde season (with every planet moving direct until spring!), but Leo itself is a sign known for expression, creativity, and shining bright. “So it’s kind of like this fresh restart, and a time to take full advantage of the planets giving us the green light to move forward,” she explains, adding, “And we really haven’t had this kind of similar moment since 2019—through most of the pandemic, we’ve been in a lot of retrograde turmoil.”
