What lies beneath? As November begins with a pileup of planets in water signs, skimming the surface is no longer the way to go. We’re being pulled back into the depths, ready or not, as the stars sound the call for reflection.
We’ve got not one but four planets retrograde to get November started, with Mercury and Jupiter joining the retrograde parade by the second week of the month. Given the chaotic state of the world, we can only hope that these cycles remind us of our shared humanity rather than further dividing us—but that may feel like an improbably tall order some days.
With the Sun delving through penetrating Scorpio until November 21, the month opens with intensity, mystery, and a push to get radically honest about what’s been simmering beneath the surface.
Scorpio rules transformation, and even if we can only apply that to our personal lives, every bit of molecule-shifting helps. Whether you’re releasing emotional baggage or rewriting a narrative that no longer serves you, the first three weeks can be a deep-sea dive.
Guiding insight arrives at the Taurus full supermoon on November 5, an emotionally charged lunar lift that helps us sort out what feels safe and what’s become stagnant.
Taurus rules security, both emotional and financial, and helps use turn ideas into tangible form. Look back to the Taurus new moon on April 27 for clues of what could come to fruition now.
Uranus, which moved into Gemini on July 7 for the first time since 1949, is retrograde from September 1 until February 3. On April 2026, it will end an eight-year residency in Taurus (save for the brief pause this summer and fall), and settle into Gemini until 2033.
Over the holidays, you may find yourself revisiting seismic shifts that first began as far back as 2018. Uranus is the planet of innovation and technology; Taurus rules our day-to-day lives and the material world. With AI coming for, well, everything—or so we’re told—Uranus’ return to earth-sign Taurus will surely remind us of its limits.
Taurus rules the body, and Uranus’ return here reminds us of our flesh-and-blood human biological needs. Before humanity completely turns on itself in the name of “progress,” November’s retrogrades might blessedly slam the brakes.
From the “farmaggedeon” crisis spawned by AI data center land grabs, I.C.E. raids and tariffs crushing American farmers, to the government shutdown impacting SNAP benefits and food assistance programs, to the “Big Beautiful Bill” threatening to wipe out medical benefits for America’s poor and elderly, to mounting climate issues…can the other planets knock some sense into this one?
We’ll see—starting with the question of whether anyone will even listen to each other.
Didn’t think four retrogrades were enough? On November 9, Mercury backpedals through global Sagittarius before slipping into secretive Scorpio on November 18. Miscommunications, tech glitches, and international tension could flare up.
Layered onto all this, multicultural ambassador Jupiter also goes retrograde on November 11, beginning a reflective journey through nurturing Cancer until March 10.
Cancer rules home and family, with a particular emphasis on women and children, the populations who will be hit hardest by many of the aforementioned political happenings.
On November 20, the monthly lunar “reset button” arrives tightly conjunct retrograde Mercury and shadowy Black Moon Lilith. This new moon trio also forms a rare and potent Grand Water Trine with idealist Neptune, taskmaster Saturn, and retrograde Jupiter. This configuration has the potential to be a healing gateway, or an unleashing of the emotional floodgates.
Citizens’ anger, fueled by the righteous outrage of Lilith, will come back home to roost (cue Jupiter retrograde in Cancer). Hopefully it will invoke accountability among elected officials, rather than unleash more wrath upon their innocent scapegoats.
As the sun galavants into free-spirited Sag, it restores our big picture, inclusive perspective. Then, Saturn ends its retrograde on November 27, moving forward in Pisces for a final lap (until February 13) before departing for nearly 30 years.
Whew! November is definitely one of the weightier months of this already heavy year. The best news may be that we’re closer to the finish line. It’s been a long one.
But all is not lost; If we’ve learned anything in 2025, it’s how to come together in our local communities to protect one another in unthinkable scenarios.
Now might be the right time to invoke the words of Sagittarius author and cultural anthropologist Margaret Mead, “Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed, citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.”

November is a month of integration, a time to anchor ourselves amidst the intensity, to find space to process all that’s happened since the planet plunged into turmoil last month. Your November 2023 horoscope has all the cosmic details to navigate.
This full moon will form a T-square (a 3-way tug o’ war) with the Sun and Mars in Sagittarius and Saturn in Pisces. In the case of a T-square, we look for the fourth sign of the “modality” for answers. On March 2, the “great benefics” Venus and Jupiter will make an exact union in the sky (visible under clear conditions), showering us with good fortune as they meet in Aries.
Then, on the 30th, Venus will connect with unconventional Uranus in its home sign of Taurus, which could bring an exciting album drop or artistic moment, and a great day to be spontaneous in love.
Speaking of Aries, the March 20 spring equinox sets off the Season of the Ram, which is immediately followed by the first of a rare duo of Aries new moons, on March 21 and April 20. The second of these will be an eclipse, and some astrologers believe you can feel an eclipse’s impact up to a month prior. With supersizer Jupiter in Aries until May 16, a robust four weeks are in store.
Then on March 25, energizer Mars finally concludes an extended seven-month visit to Gemini that started back on August 20, 2022. We hosted the action planet in the communication sign five times longer than its usual stay—once again, a lingering energy pattern that probably started to become habitual. If you’ve been talking, thinking, bickering and brainstorming at warp speed, get ready for a much-needed mental break.
Mars will move into Cancer from March 25 to May 20, where it’s said to be in “fall” (a weakened state since the “yang” energy of Mars isn’t that comfortable in the “yin” waters of Cancer). For the next couple months, our emotions, homes and personal lives can be a source of both friction and fuel. This March 30, Mars will high-five Saturn when the two form a supportive trine. This could be a great moment to put a solid plan behind one of your most exciting ideas.

The Sun shifts into communal and social Aquarius on the 20th, followed swiftly by the year’s first new moon (also in Aquarius) on January 21.
This also happens to be Lunar New Year’s Eve, when we welcome the compassionate and abundant Water Rabbit and bid adieu to the wild, unpredictable Water Tiger who prowled the skies since February 1, 2022. So things will get (bunny) hopping quickly!
On January 22, trailblazing Uranus wakes up from its five-month retrograde that started on August 24, rocketing forward in terrestrial Taurus. Bottlenecked plans with work and money could pick up speed again—stay on your toes!
Stargazers, start your engines: Once Uranus is direct there will be no retrograde planets in the skies for a couple of months. With risk-taker Jupiter, the planet of growth and luck, in daring Aries until May 16, you’ve got planetary permission to step on the gas. There’s a solid case for using the first three weeks of January to evaluate your options. Then, you can confidently choose your 2023 direction and go!

That would be more than enough to make anyone opt for a mail-in ballot. But at this lunar eclipse, the moon will also make acute contact with Uranus, Saturn, Mercury and Venus, locking into a tense T-square (a challenged 90-degree angle).
The moon and volatile Uranus, the sign of sudden changes and revolution, will be a mere one degree apart, traveling in conjunction on November 8. This definitely has us worried about erratic behavior at the polls, especially given the rise of gun violence (which can coincide with Uranus transits) this year. Voters, please be careful out there…and please vote.
Uranus rules technology, and this moon-Uranus mashup could incite another round of radical uprising. With Elon Musk taking the helm of Twitter on October 28, a mere three days after the Scorpio solar eclipse, many are worried that the line between hate speech and free speech will blur even more.
Across the zodiac wheel from the moon and Uranus are the Sun, Mercury, and Venus in Scorpio, stirring up more intensity. Wedged in between these five luminaries is authoritarian Saturn in Aquarius, the sign of society and politics. It’s going to be one heck of a day.
