    Reader TysonC reports that Pepper app no longer earns bonus rewards on the American Express Business Gold card. Purchases used to be considered part of the Computer Supplies category which can earn 4x on the Business Gold card if it’s one of your top categories. From September 14, 2024 and onward it’s now coding as General Retail and is not eligible for that bonus.

    Presumably the Business Platinum card will go down from 1.5x to 1x as well due to the change.

    It’s unknown whether the BofA Customized Cash Rewards cards will lose their Computer Software category bonus as Visa/Mastercard might operate differently than AmEx.

    And there’s certainly a chance that it will still count as Online Shopping for BofA cards and ShopYourWay card, and possibly for the Blue Cash card as well.

    Our Verdict

    This is an amazing offer if you can get it to show. People are talking about certain referral links being 200k, but in reality I think it might depend more on the user who use opens the link (depending on location, etc).

    Our Verdict

    This looks to bypass pop up jail so should be able to get the bonus even if you’ve had the card before, but that might be YMMV. Good deal if targeted, especially if you’ve already had the card before.

    In October American Express announced a number of new benefits for the business gold card. Those new benefits are already live (discussed more below) but the new annual fee of $375 ($80 increase) doesn’t go into effect until 2/1/24. That means now is your last chance to get these new benefits without paying the annual fee. The best offer is 150,000 points, getting that is discussed in some detail here. New benefits are:
