‘Superman’ road closures: What areas to avoid

CLEVELAND (WJW) – The new Superman movie continues to disrupt traffic in its takeover of downtown Cleveland.
FOX 8 crews previously spotted signs confirming that the feature film is the newest in the Superman franchise, such as signs for The Daily Planet and Metropolis. And, if that isn’t enough even sightings of Superman himself (well, at least the actor who is playing Superman).
Road closures will continue in downtown Cleveland at least through July 20, according to a Monday news release.
Expect additional traffic notices as filming continues and please note that these dates may change based on weather.
Monday July 15:
- Full closure of West Mall Drive between Rockwell Avenue and 1345 West Mall Drive
- Southbound closure of Ontario Street between West St. Clair and Rockwell avenues
- Full closure of Rockwell Avenue between 2nd and Ontario streets
- Full closure of East 3rd Street between Superior and Rockwell avenues
- Westbound closure of Euclid Avenue between East 6th Street and East Roadway
Tuesday, July 16:
- Westbound closure of Euclid Avenue between East 6th Street and East Roadway
- Full closure of Superior Avenue between East Roadway and East 6th Street
- The 200 Public Square Parking Garage can still be accessed, but only from East Roadway and Public Square
Wednesday, July 17, through Saturday, July 20:
- Westbound closure of Euclid Avenue between East 6th Street and East Roadway
According to a press release from the City of Cleveland, these road closures are in place to make sure both the film crew and the public are staying safe.
According to the release, the were be detour signs posted in the affected areas.
