Sunny skies for Day 2 of Lollapalooza after soggy start

CHICAGO — Day 2 of Lollapalooza 2024 kicked off smoothly Friday, with clear skies and no rain in sight, a far cry from the showers and lightning that threatened the event on Thursday.
More than 100,000 people once again packed into a sold-out Grant Park, moving between eight different stages. Across the four-day festival, more than 170 acts spanning hip-hop, alternative rock, indie, pop, and electronic music will perform.
Festivalgoer Sayre Milo told WGN News they were excited the rain stayed away.
“Especially yesterday, since it was supposed to storm all day,” Milo said.
With the threat of rain gone, attendees are ready to see some big-name acts. Friday night headliners include SZA and Stray Kids but festivalgoer Nathally Servin said uncovering new and emerging artists from various musical styles is also a treat.
“I’ve always appreciated that about festivals,” Servin said. “You can see a little bit of everything.”
For more than three decades, Lollapalooza has been a staple in the Windy City and festivalgoers say they can’t envision it taking place anywhere else.
“I think it’s the location,” said Christian Lambo. “You turn around and its the beautiful skyline. You turn to the other side and it’s the beautiful lake. It’s a cool energy.”
