OAK PARK, Ill. — A local boy is heading to the go kart national championship after beating everyone in the state.

Pierce Joy, 10, is an Oak Park fourth grader with one thing on his mind: Winning.

Hi mom Kerri and his dad Branden are all in too.

‘We came in the first time and he placed second in that race and Branden and I were both shocked,” Kerri Joy said.

Turns out, the kid with hundreds of MatchBox cars and a subscription to Motor Trend could actually drive pretty good.

Practicing at the K1 Speed Track in Addison and on a simulator his uncle made back at home, within one year, Pierce made himself into one of the best ‘baby drivers’ in the state.

He is headed to California in April for the K1 Junior League Championship to battle for a spot at internationals.

Find him at The Racer P on Instagram.
