CHICAGO — After nearly a week, the Democratic National Convention has wrapped up in Chicago.
Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson along with the city’s Office of Emergency Management are scheduled to hold a news conference Friday morning to recap the week’s events.
Streets in the area of the McCormick Place and the United Center began reopening early Friday morning. All major intersections near the McCormick Place are scheduled to be cleared by 3 p.m. and the I-55 offramp will reopen.
OEMC has released additional timeline for reopening areas over the weekend.
McCormick Place
Sunday, August 25
- 6 a.m. – Cermak from Michigan to Indiana will be clear.
- 8 a.m. – All area open and 75% of assets cleared off curbs.
Monday, August 26
- 6 a.m. – 100% of assets removed – area completely reopened.
United Center
Saturday, August 24
- Noon – Damen, Wood, and Adams open (if possible)
- Most major intersections cleared for traffic.
Sunday, August 25
- 11:59 p.m. – All areas open & 75% of assets cleared off curbs
Monday, August 26
- 11:59 p.m. – All assets removed, reopen complete.
