The U.S. House of Representatives has passed HR 4909 which is designed to provide a minimum injection of $50 million per year for the next 10 years to help fund programs such as STOPit. Passed by a convincing margin, it now moves on to the U.S. Senate and early signals from President Trump look positive that he will sign the bill.
STOPit has been adding school programs across the country and there are now STOPit schools in 42 states – with this unrivaled national expansion achieved in just four years. “In this school year alone, STOPit schools have managed over 18,000 incident reports. The STOP School Violence Act was the first school safety-focused measure to pass in the House since the horrible tragedy at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School. The bipartisan vote of 407 to 10 saw only five Democrats and five Republicans vote against the bill.
