St Andrew’s Cathedral School to set up space for flowers, tributes to ‘much-loved’ murdered coach Lilie James – Medical Marijuana Program Connection

Thijssen called triple zero just before midnight, telling police about a body at the school.

His own body was recovered from rough water at sea cliffs on Friday.

Separate footage from school CCTV cameras showed Thijssen following James into the school’s gym bathroom about 7pm on Wednesday. Thijssen, a former sports captain at the school who coached hockey, exited an hour later.

Police sources not authorised to speak publicly about the investigation have suggested James’ wounds were inflicted by a hammer. Police described the discovery of James’ body inside the gym toilets as confronting when news of the death broke on Thursday morning.

The gym is no longer considered a crime scene. However, it will remain out of bounds for students when they return on Monday and all PDHPE assessments have been cancelled.

James’ LinkedIn profile shows she was in her second year of a sports business degree at UTS.

On Saturday, the division 1 and 2 teams at the UTS Balmain Tigers Water Polo Club, which James joined this year, held a minute’s silence before their matches.

“In only her first few games with her Balmain teammates, Lilie’s friendliness made a mark impressing those around her with her gentleness and kindness,” the club said on Instagram.

Services will proceed as normal at St Andrew’s Cathedral on Sunday morning, after its Thursday night choral evensong was cancelled…
