Infanta Sofia joined King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia of Spain as they presided over the ceremony of delivery of Dispatches and appointments to the new officers of the Army, including the Princess of Asturias, who have completed their training at the Academia General Militar in Zaragoza.
Upon their arrival at the General Military Academy, the King and Queen and Infanta Sofía were received with military honours and salutes before the King reviewed the student companies and greeted the civil and military authorities.
The King and Queen presided over the ceremony for the presentation of Royal Orders and appointments to the new officers of the Army and the Civil Guard, where the King presented the Princess of Asturias with the appointment as a cadet second lieutenant of the Army and awarded her the Grand Cross of Military Merit with white insignia. The Princess of Asturias has finished the first of her three years of military training at the Academia General Militar, which will be followed by a year in a Naval School and a third year in the Air Force Academy.
Afterwards, and after reading the Order of promotion of the different promotions that have received the Royal Order, Don Felipe decorated the first five officers of the promotion of the General Corps of the Army, the number one of the Quartermaster Corps of the Army and the number one of the Scale of Officers of the Civil Guard. Next, the Royal Orders were handed over to the rest of the members of the promotions. The event continued with a speech by the General Director of the General Military Academy, a tribute to those who gave their lives for Spain, the interpretation of the Hymn of the General Military Academy, the recitation of the First Article of the Cadet Decalogue, and ended with a parade.
