A woman is grieving the loss of her brother, who was shot to death in Cumberland County last week.
21-year-old Arthur Knight Acosta, along with 32-year-old Jefferson Duggins, was shot in Hope MIlls while working as a window washer in front of a home.
Guinevere Myskey, Arthur’s sister, described him as a hardworking individual who managed multiple full-time and part-time jobs, including a seasonal position.
Their parents remembered him as the perfect son, highlighting his strong faith and belief in Jesus Christ as his Savior.
“He was a beautiful boy,” Myskey said. “He enjoyed playing games on his computer and just living life. His faith in Jesus Christ kept him strong and he believed our lord and savior both the way the truth and life.”
Detectives identified the shooting suspect as 42-year-old Desmund Louis Moore, who took Arthur’s life along with Duggins’, a father of five.
Authorities later shot and killed Moore during a high-speed chase in Mount Airy.
The owner of the NC Window Cleaning Company, where Acosta was employed, took to social media to express heartfelt condolences for the loss of their employees.
“This tragedy is so senseless and brutal that we struggle to find the words,” the post read.
In memory of Arthur, his family has set up a GoFundMe page for funeral expenses.
His sister shared their mother’s wishes for how the public should remember Arthur: “Everyone wants to talk about how my son died; I want to talk about how my son lived.”
