Shamrock races to close down Sacramento streets

(FOX40.COM) — Several races will shut down a few Sacramento and West Sacramento streets on Saturday and Sunday.
Over 5,000 people are expected to participate in the Shamrock’n 5K and 10K on Saturday and the half marathon on Sunday.
The Saturday races will
- Start at Sutter Health Park at 7:30 a.m.
- Cross Tower Bridge and head down Capitol Mall
- Turn right onto 7th Street
- Turn onto R Street before
- Heading back towards Capitol Mall via Front Street and
- Return to Sutter Health Park
On Sunday, half-marathon runners will:
- Start at Sutter Health Park at 7:30 a.m.
- Cross Tower Bridge
- Turn onto Front Street then turn onto J Street
- Turn onto 2nd Street and cross Capitol Mall onto Front Street
- Run down and then onto the Bike Trail at Miller Park
- Turn onto Riverside Drive once they’ve reached 25th Street
- Enter Land Park at East Park Road and eventually exit on 13th Street
- Turn onto 8th Avenue toward Riverside Boulevard
- Turn onto 7th Avenue then Govan Way down to Regina Way
- Turn from Regina onto Vallejo Way toward 5th Street
- Turn from 5th Street briefly onto First Avenue and Third Street
- Turn onto Broadway and return to Front Street
- Turn onto R Street then left onto 5th Street
- Turn onto N Street and then 7th Street before returning to Sutter Health Park via Capitol Mall.
A children’s race, the half-mile “Leprechaun Dash,” will also be held on Saturday.
The run, organized by Fleet Feet, benefits the Triumph Cancer Foundation.
