DENVER (KDVR) – Singer, actor and entrepreneur Selena Gomez made a surprise appearance at a Telluride High School volleyball game, according to a post on Instagram Saturday.

“They asked!! Couldn’t help it, it’s my first time in Telluride!” Gomez said in the post, referring to a sign asking for the Rare Beauty founder to sing the national anthem at one of the volleyball games.

The “Only Murders in the Building” actor was in town for the Telluride Film Festival, which was scheduled to occur over the Labor Day holiday weekend.

Video of the players’ surprised reactions to Gomez’s arrival was included in the Instagram post, which had already racked up over 1.38 million likes on the social media platform.

Gomez was not the only star to make an appearance at the film festival, with stars like Will Ferrell, Martha Stewart, Pharrell Williams, and Bill Murray also in town for the event, alongside other celebrities and film industry professionals.

The event has taken place in the mountain town every year since 1974, with it celebrating its 50th edition in 2023.
