Big 12 Spotlight: Five programs that won the early transfer window – Rivals Transfer Portal

The early window to enter the transfer portal is officially closed. Barring a five-day extension for playoff teams, players will have to wait until the spring to enter their names in the portal. With that in mind, here’s a look at some of the biggest portal winners from the Big 12.

TEXAS

The Longhorns have only made three additions through the portal but each is a potential impact player. Texas landed the highest-ranked transfer prospect in the conference by getting defensive back Andrew Mukuba from Clemson. It also has talented Houston wide receiver Matthew Golden on the way. UTSA sack machine Trey Moore committed to Texas, too. He was very productive with 22 sacks the last two seasons.

The Horned Frogs have the highest-ranked transfer class in the conference right now powered by a trio of four-star transfer additions. Offensive lineman Bless Harris, tight end Drake Dabney and linebacker Kaleb Elarms-Orr are all on the way to boost the program. Notre Dame defensive end Nana Osafo-Mensah will also be a nice addition for TCU.

Joey McGuire’s program is not far behind TCU in the team rankings. The Red Raiders sit at No. 12 right now and have been quite active adding players after a season that fell short of preseason expectations. Texas Tech has done a good job of addressing several needs including offensive line and wide receiver. Memphis offensive lineman Davion Carter and Washington State wide receiver Josh Kelly are the headliners for the class.

The Bearcats had a tough first season in the Big 12 finishing with a 3-9 record. The team was in need of an infusion from the portal and have done good work landing eight players. A pair of Ohio State transfers, defensive back Kye Stokes and running back Evan Pryor, are two of the crown jewels of the class.

The portal has been a roller coaster for Oklahoma this offseason. The team surprisingly lost star offensive lineman Cayden Green to the portal but have also added a lot of quality players as well. The Sooners have the No. 16 ranked transfer class right now powered by Purdue transfer wide receiver Deion Burks who was one of the most wanted players out of the portal.
