Rivals.com – Florida commit DJ Lagway makes statement in final regular season game
[ad_1]
“It was amazing,” Lagway told Rivals.com following Willis’ 49-35 victory over Conroe Oak Ridge. “That was a great defense that we played, especially up front. They have some dogs up there so it was good competition.”
Lagway accounted for six total touchdowns on the night. He threw four scores – another one was negated due to offensive holding – and ran in two more. Whether it was with his big arm or dynamic legs, Lagway found different ways to move the ball and light up the scoreboard.
The performance coming against a player of Williams’ status made it even more memorable for Lagway. Both are regarded as top-7 recruits in Texas and top-40 prospects nationally and are set to have many more games against each other in the SEC.
“It was amazing getting to play against a great player like himself,” said Lagway. “We’ve been playing against each other since little league. So it was great to get the last blow in high school and we’ll obviously see each other in college.”
The future Gators signal caller has been at the center of five-star discussions throughout his senior campaign as he has posted video game numbers and won big games week in and week out. He certainly did his best to make the statement on Friday night that he’s well-deserving of that lofty status.
Lagway and Willis open the playoff slate next Friday night at home against Aldine Nimitz inside Berton A. Yates Stadium, setting the QB up to add to his high school legacy.
