Amex Unbanning Some Cardholders Banned for Self Referrals

American Express has a great credit card referral program. You can often get big bonuses for referring friends and family members to apply for American Express credit cards. And you don’t even need to have that specific credit cards yourself in most cases.

When American Express introduced universal referrals, it also opened the door to self-referrals. However, American Express does not want you to refer yourself for a new card, and that has been well documented since then. The credit card issuer has banned people and also clawed back referral bonuses earned from self-referrals.

If you have been banned from referring due to Amex self-referrals, there might be some good news. There are a couple of reports on reddit from those who were banned, saying that they are able to start referring again today.
