BALCH SPRINGS, Texas — The American Red Cross opened a shelter at the Balch Springs Recreation Center for residents impacted by recent storms.
The shelter, located at 4372 Shepherd Lane, opened at 1:30 p.m. Saturday. The city will also work to help residents with pets and make accommodations for them off site. A Red Cross shelter also remains open in Valley View for residents recovering after deadly tornadoes swept through that area last weekend.
The Red Cross encourages people who plan to stay in a shelter to bring prescription medications, extra clothing, pillows, blankets, hygiene supplies, other comfort items and important documents, as well as any special items for children, such as diapers, formula and toys
For an up-to-date list of all Red Cross shelters visit the Red Cross website, the free Red Cross emergency app or call 1-800-RED CROSS (800-733-2767).
